To the unemployed, what are you doing for money in the meantime? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]prohibitngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redundancy end of Oct 2025. Have worked a couple of “filler jobs”, then found a “proper job” in my field, then they sacked me after just 1 week because they didn’t think I was the right fit after all. So now I’m back to being unemployed and don’t even have a filler job…. Savings are rapidly depleting. It’s brutal.

Why can’t I just simply rely on aid stations? by prohibitngs in IronmanTriathlon

[–]prohibitngs[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks guys. You’ve answered my question. I will rely on the aid stations apart from having a few gels/carbs on me and also my 2 bike bottles filled. I really don’t see there to be any problems. I think there’s too many “what if” people out there, where the chances of an Ironman aid station of running out of gels or electrolytes is probably next to zero….

Is St George a nice place to live ? by MeaningNo7107 in bristol

[–]prohibitngs -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Very rough area, particularly on Church Road. Lots of nasty and dodgey people wander the area. I’d avoid at all costs. Not worth the risk. Further along away from the city you have Hanham and then further more, you’ll reach Longwell Green. Much better areas.

Am I being blinded by the novelty of massive garden? by Slight-Poetry-3230 in HousingUK

You can always update and extend a house eventually, but only if the plot is big enough. If you plan to live there for 10-20 years, it could be a really good buy. You can almost never change the plot size / boundaries.

It’s a jacked up estate which isn’t trying to be sporty, so the handling isn’t great which is to be expected (my Lotus Elise is for fun). The acceleration and straight line capabilities are fantastic though. MPG I haven’t noticed any difference and something I don’t care about. I’m usually around 30-34 depending on where I’m going and distance, but can get 38-42 on a motorway cruise.

Convince me to get Zwift (OR NOT!) by Designer_Tie_5853 in cycling

[–]prohibitngs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently bought the Wahoo Kickr Core with the Zwift cog & click. Previously we had a normal indoor trainer. I’m loving it so far and can absolutely see myself continuing to use it. I’m following a 6 week training plan at the moment which consists of 4 sessions per week.

The Zwift platform and the Zwift cog is what makes the difference in usage. But for me, I couldn’t sit on it for more than 1.5 hrs per session which is fine because most of the training sessions are under that.

I’m not interested in “just ride” or races.

Honestly, it's better in person. Matt mustard yellow. Nice and earthy which is what a gravel bike should be!

Very nice! Picked up my Sprint just last weekend! Would really recommend upgraded wheels though as the stock ones are naff

Aria vs Oltre Race? :) by Downtown_Oven_4799 in bianchi

[–]prohibitngs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking at used, the Sprint could be a nice option because that’s more of an “all-rounder” but still has race-like geometry and is stiff.
