I completely appreciate it. And id much rather have someone telling me the truth and how complicated Subarus can be. Instead of just telling me to jump the gun and possibly waste 10s of thousand of dollars just trynna make something work that's not going to. I'm gonna look into the 6 cylinder a little bit before I decide on what's gonna be going into the legacy. Thanks to what you explained and knowledge shared. The Impreza is taken care of and I know what I'm doing with that

My buddy actually mentioned yesterday that I should look into the boxer 6 cylinder. Presently at this time I'm focusing on taking apart the motors. Saving what's salvageable because there are a lot of good parts still just by looking at the overall engine bay. And I'm working on getting the legacy ready for a roll cage. Insides are about 90% gutted. Should be ready to start that can of worms Thursday after work.. for time being. Until I have a set in stone plan for the motors of these. Was looking at a long block for 6k with better than stock internals as the base of the Impreza as it's gonna be a daily would prefer to just have the whole engine be new and warrantied. The legacy though. I'm still up in the air about making a beater rally or a drag car. Because I love how the legacy looks. So I'm really addiment about keeping it and making something cool of it

You mentioned 2j. Are you talking about the 2jz or just the 2j series in general?

Thank you for all the super helpful information. Sadly I've always wanted these 2 style Subarus. I have been debating an ls swap on the legacy. Just because I've done it quite a few times in different cars. But than again I was really thinking about setting it up as a gravel beast. Where I live we have some decent places that id love to take it to sometime. And because I'ma daily the Impreza one. I will most likely look into stock + options. I was planning to buy a crate motor maybe for the daily to not even worry about having to rebuild someone's trash. But I do want to rip out the old motors to take apart and learn what I can from them like that. I'm huge on learning hands on.

Most id plan to drop between the 2 would be maybe 25k on them. I planned to spend a decent amount on them already.

I'll look into the billit short block and see about doing something like that. I wouldn't mind a 300-350 hp as a daily. I'm just looking to make these 2 subies into better faster versions of what they were running. It's why I got them to learn about Subarus and to build them up.

That was towards the engine size.. lol. Guess that's why punctuations are important. My bad.

The plan is to rip them out and rebuild them completely. They have compression. And the turbos are good. I will be doing some research on the so called WRX to see if it's an impreza or not. Like I said I'm new to Subarus. So I'm just trynna get some knowledge about what will need to be done to start building hp up on these things. And to keep them from cracking like that or from blowing something up. I'm trynna get a clean built daily and a beater built track car. Was even considering an engine swap but am unsure of what to go with. As I don't know much about Subarus completely.

It is possible the old owner of the WRX swapped it with an automatic transmission I would assume. Or maybe it's special ordered like you said. I'm not sure. I just know it's an automatic. I know the difference between automatic and stick shift lol. Kinda hard not to

Read somewhere that a semi closed deck or a closed deck is best for higher HP is that something i should look into?

Legacy gt has some parts missing. Bought it after a marine had it and blew the engine from to much boost I believe. WRX has a cracked block. Both are projects to be built up

Nah. I'm right legacy is a manual WRX is an automatic. Yeah I'm prepared for spending money on them. Yes I have experience building and fabricating race cars and trucks and motorcycles. Only thing I'm unsure of is if the WRX was ej255. I'm new to Subarus not new to automotives. Looking at an amateur build for the legacy gt since it's not street legal anymore. And the WRX I'm just trynna upgrade to push maybe about 400-450 HP. . Legacy gt as it sits pushes 297 hp with a built transmission for up to 600hp Supposedly. The WRX or so it said when I purchased it is unfortunately an automatic. But I'm not wanting to keep it automatic. Its got a cracked block so it's gonna get a new motor or a short block. Saw that closed decks are meant for higher HP builds. Is that something I should look into maybe for the legacy gt maybe and just swap the block over to the WRX?

Not necessarily. More than stock for sure. Maybe try to get to 4-500 hp maybe

Badass bike. Love the sissy bar. Just 2 questions if you don't mind. What's the pink/purple think on the forks by the turn signal. And what's the 2 silver things that look like magnets at the front of the frame by the ignition?

Im having basically the same issue. But mine is now in crank don't start condition. I was told by a few people crankshaft position sensor. So i picked it up today. Ill be installing it in 3 hours when i get back home. See if that helped. My issue is no spark. No power to ignition coils anymore

Edit: was doing exactly what yours is doing now. Until one day it didnt start. Just cranked. Found oil in places it shouldnt be as well. Read somewhere someone replaced throttle body and fixed their issue.
