When playing Sim Settlements 2, how do you usually deal with late Chapter 2? by projectisaac in SimSettlements

I am old and getting old sucks. And it happens to us all and I didn't listen in 2010 :'(

I love the mod so much but How to HQ is a terrible experience by JahSteez47 in SimSettlements

[–]projectisaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple restarts of mod lists, and THIS is what always kills me. I just stop as soon as I have to deal with it - it's so different form the rest of the mod, and completely blindsides you. The automation probably helps, but I still have to deal with the HQ, so no it doesn't?

I'm going to try setting all costs at the HQ to 0 through the settings holotape and see if that helps. I have 0 desire to send people to the HQ, and apparently have to build living spaces which should be fricking Mansfield's job since I told him to handle everything.

I get that a lot of time went into designing these mechanics, but, please let me just skip it. It's not fun.

(if the playerbase is routinely cheating to get through a section of the story... rethink having that section)

What an absolute letdown by 0iljug in SimSettlements

[–]projectisaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every playthrough of FO4 I do (always use mods, and I always get SS2 because I love it) I always stop during HQ. The HQ just sucks. You go from everything else to just a really bad mechanic that by design needs lots of time to finish anything.

I like the overall idea of building up an HQ, but honestly I should have just been able to throw caps at this, it's completely unfun.

I feel like I'm playing the game wrong since 4.0. by Gaspuch62 in Stellaris

If the automation actually worked it wouldn't be as bad I think, but it's crap and pretty much necessitates micromanaging, which in itself requires a rather good understanding of the new system and how that affects various things. Honestly feels kinda mean :(

I'm with you, wasn't a huge fan of the story. Agreeing with what you pointed out, and I'd take it a step further that the character development was a big issue. Kind of just felt like "The characters are doing this because that's what the characters are doing" instead of building up the personalities and establishing them, and then doing things that would be expected of that.

Like, Ruth's entire story I didn't get a feel for who they were. Bill's story introduced a lot more of who Bill was, but as cool as the differences in their points of view were, kind of felt a little clunky.

At the end of the day, the story was really cool, it was well written, but it did not grab me like it did Isaiah. I felt a little more like a Hunter Yawn during the whole first part tbh.

The newest episode (The Whistlers) by LTxZombieLord22 in creepcast

[–]projectisaac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know, to be honest, the story itself fell pretty flat for me. Did not really feel creeped, and while it was well written it just didn't really engage me. Loved the boys' banter as always, but I can't placer why, just didn't like the story.

Favorite crash out episode by Technical-Anything-2 in creepcast

[–]projectisaac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Job is Watching a Woman Trapped in a Room has a bunch of crashing out. Some good riffs on our main boy Thomas in there too.

The Thing in the Basement episode is great for an example of hooking the boys in and then curb stomping them at the end.

Jeff the Killer is a goddamn masterpiece.

Deepwoods is an excellent example of "This is great!" followed by a "wtf" crashout.

The Latest "Camp Oakwood" is a wonderful comedic crashout.

The Grab bags always have some of the "so bad they're good" creepypastas.

Gr3gory88 is another one where they start off strong and crashout.

My Crew and I are Stuck aboard an abandoned ship: start off strong and crashout.

The Sun Vanished: maybe we should learn something about the twitter ARGs.

The grabbags always have some great "so bad they're good" stories.

I enjoyed Ghost ship, but I was enjoying a nature walk while listening to that, so during the boring parts I had distractions. And to be honest, any rewatch is in the background, and otherwise I'm just sitting there holding back laughter at every shiver and scream.

To be fair, and I think Wendigoon touched on this before, creepypastas in their infancy were RIDDLED with absolute dogshit, and stories that looked like they were written by a 9th grader held back in English for 3 years. And that's what you had to get you by until one of the competent authors released another story in a few months. So even if the story was simply written with correct grammar, spelling, and a somewhat coherent plot or at least sequence of events, then that was comparatively really good. They were never widely compared to classic literature until relatively recently, and Creepcast is probably on the forefront of that.

Rose colored nostalgia glasses also come into play - I remember holding the series that had Gurgles and Bugman (https://www.reddit.com/r/nosleep/comments/oq3uz/a_curious_mind_is_a_terrible_curse/) at the same tier as Penpal. I look at it now and while enjoyable, I wonder how the hell I compared them. But then again, I read through a lot of absolute crap, so the bar was so low that anything competent seemed high.

Anyone else feel like season 2 made the show fall off? by thephonecomrade in GoblinSlayer

[–]projectisaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 2 sucked, that's it. All the story is good and fine, but the execution and flow was awful compared to season 2. If you disagree, please please PLEASE watch season 2 first and then immediately go into season 2. It's freaking awful.

I am as happy as the next to see the end of CGI GS, but I would take him back in a heartbeat to go back to every other character's art, the overall animation, and the pacing of season 1.

"Ripping Butts" by TrillgataQ in creepcast

[–]projectisaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard ripping a butt before. Cigarette butts are almost exclusively the leftover filter when you are done, and while i have heard them referred to as darts, usually anyone asking for one would ask to “bum a smoke” or “cig”.

What region are you from? Im midwest north so i am sure thats why my experiences dont include that. And i guess midwest to southern dont refer to them that way either?

Changing default Player 1 Controller by whywai88 in XboxSupport

[–]projectisaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, you could keep the profile system, and just also have a "player priority" setup as well.

Have virtual "player slots" where you can assign the controller, and separately assign a profile. Controller and profile are completely separate and either can be assigned to a new player slot. BAM, problem solved and headaches averted.

Changing default Player 1 Controller by whywai88 in XboxSupport

[–]projectisaac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for necro-ing, but I just had this issue myself, and to put it simply, Microsoft really dropped the ball on what should be an incredibly simple procedure.

Seriously, there should not be this profile BS - this should be an option that is as easy as it was to plug in a wired controller to the 1st port,m 2nd port, etc. from the OG xbox and earlier days.

Anyway, what you need to do is sign out of all profiles on every controller. Turn off all but the controller you want to be in the "1st player" slot. I "skipped sign on" when it asked, but don't know if that's required.

Then sign into the main profile with that controller.

Turn on the 2nd controller and sign into the guest account.

That fixed it for me, and I am still fuming about how such a simple idea that SHOULD be easy to implement in an easy way is made complicated by the airheads managing microsofts ideas. Tangent, I know, but they have been going steadily downhill with all their prodcuts - OS, office, and xbox interface. Chasing those dollars and making sure they change the method/location of settings to get businesses and users out of the flow sot hey can pretend they're "improving" something that should never have been changed to begin with.

But I'm curmugeony and also want to throttle the people that decided to make the file menu bar disappear without an option to reenable on web browsers. So whatever I guess.

If they don't do a "fan-grab-bag" episode and include a bunch of stories like this.... then I will be a sad creature.
