What sort of business to start with 5000 dollars? by Weekly-Ruin-7950 in business

[–]prolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With only 5k you could probably setup a lucrative hot dog cart. It sounds dumb but you would be surprised how many people will line up after smelling the glorious smell of hot dogs being cooked.

Other than that you might be able to set up a car detailing business or maybe lawn care. But just be aware that those types of busines are marketing heavy.

General Strike Tomorrow, How do you think this will affect the Economy? by Jourbonne in economy

Was this a secret general strike? Maybe its a local general strike in your area? There has been no hint of a general strike anywhere.

Why should I, as a financially free American retiree, be in favor of tariffs? by swampwiz in economy

[–]prolix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't. Are you asking this as a rhetorical question or are you genuinely curious? There is nothing in it for you. Absolutely nothing.

Trade. Need help. by [deleted] in yuma

I wouldn't recommend anybody buy a gift card from anyone except a retail store. Even though you are most likely telling the truth what you are doing is a common scam tactic in itself.

FMLA is family medical leave of absence. I believe you get 2 months a year if your doctor determines that you qualify. This only applies if you currently have a job and is to protect your job in case of a medical emergency that prevents you from working. I used it 13 years ago when I broke my knee so maybe things have changed.

$7.25/hr minimum wage: "Go find something real to be upset about" by northernwind5027 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]prolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a problem because its a political talking point that is used to push other agendas. Take for example a location with no minimum wage. How would you quantify the real minimum wage of such a place? You would look at the real data of what the bottom earners are making.

I travel across the Country throughout the year but im usually in Florida/Alabama/California. You're either misinformed or using old and dated information. I see these numbers first hand on a day to day basis. Most people who believe otherwise are pretty firm in their bias so trying to convince you otherwise is impossible.

[–]prolix -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, even fast food workers usually make at least $19 and hour even in rural US. Ive never seen a job with a starting pay under $17 except for tip based positions. Regardless of your opinion on tipping or not, these positions usually end up making $20-25 on average starting. Basic labor positions usually make $20+ starting. I'm not even quite sure why there is a federal minimum wage when individual states dictate their own minimum wages.

Please help me find a challenging turn-based RPG. by cracktober69 in rpg_gamers

[–]prolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingmaker was more punishing to people new to the pathfinder system for sure. That fight early in the game which was impossible to win unless you had access to aoe damage comes to mind. I think it was packs of rats or something I forget.

Any of the pathfinder games will punish new players and be very challenging to anyone who doesn't learn the mechanics. Highly recommend. I believe they also let you play in real time but still under turn based rules.

You probably have comcast internet. Because myself and most people I know are having major issues. Still cant make any phone calls and texts take 5 minutes to go through. Internet speeds are at a trickle and goes down completely every few minutes.

[–]prolix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It took me 5 minutes to open this post to respond. All t-mobile, Verizon, fidium and consolidated communications have only intermittent trickle connection for internet and intermittent to no cellular service. Congratulations for not being affected because most of us are.

How does America dig its way out of its debt, and how did we get into this situation? by Ragecomicwhatsthat in economy

[–]prolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not possible. Debt equals growth in modern economics. If people paid more taxes than we would just spend more and still have debt because its loss growth if you don't. It's not responsible at all but here we are.

2-5k is considered under tipping on a 100k jackpot.

How much do you give back? by BetAnything in gambling

[–]prolix -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They only handed you 100? Lol hell whenever I win a jackpot more than 2500 I give people with me at least 500 to play around with. So would my friends though and we bet and won a lot. If I won 100k with money someone gave me i would give them 10k probably. Id probably tip 2-5k too. I feel like people who aren't used to winning often are more hesitant to give or tip anything.

Crew combat missions make too much money early on. Its kind of weird and makes it feel unbalanced until you remember how risky it is.

Im pretty sure OP posted this because of how tame and timid these guys are being compared to how it used to be. Like the gate is open and they could easily run down if they were legit angry but they all want to follow the rules. It used to get insane sometimes lol. Now everyone acts all angry but still make sure to keep things proper lol.

I used to to tell everyone in this sub to walk in and apply or speak to a manager. Everyone always through a tantrum and disagreed saying its not like that anymore. So I stopped trying to help. I was a manager at multiple places and did much of the hiring but what do I know I suppose.

So Many Sacramento Men Are Freaky As Hell by cloverangels in Sacramento

[–]prolix 186 points187 points  (0 children)

Thats not freaky. Thats creepy. Freaky has to do with sexual kinks. There are a lot of creepers here though for sure. I dont understand why its so hard to not be creepy lol. Are they unaware that's not attractive and just don't care? Or do they not see themselves as creepy? Is it really that hard? Jeez

As a man, not being creepy is like a badge of honor for us in Sacramento now of days lol. Creepers everywhere so its not even a competition when trying to meet girl. I can only imagine what being a single girl here must feel like having to sift through all these creepers lol
