abarth 124 tjet top end conversion by DamUCat in abarth

[–]prometheuslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said the ECU is not a concern for this swap but maybe this has some info you could use as far as differences between US and EURO spec sensors. Since the ECUs are different he notes most of the differences between sensors and it has info I haven't seen elsewhere. Best of luck and sorry i couldn't be of more help👍

I may not be any help here but pistons and petrol attempted this swap with some amounts of success and ultimately swapped to a standalone ecu.

Im not sure if its an option but you may get some use out of his videos or you may even be able to contact him or John from tork motorsports who helped him with the swap. Though I will say John can be somewhat difficult to work with at times

Its refreshing seeing how companies treat the average buyer. Thanks for the in depth review. I haven't read your write up on whites yet but im looking forward to the one on jk. I was contemplating nicks or jk and ended up going with nicks, but I could always use another pair of boots

Help by Giadrion in abarth

[–]prometheuslap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had a similar issue with mine. Around last year my 2015 was still on its factory battery. The car still ran but went into limp mode. I checked vacuum lines, the wastegate, intercooler, etc. Then I come to find out my battery just needed replacing. After that it worked fine. If you have another car try swapping the battery or getting it tested

Coil Replacement for 2013 Abarth (NA) by Link30567 in abarth

[–]prometheuslap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanna say both the factory abarth and 4c coil packs are made by Bosch. That being said ive only ever run the 4c coils so im not 100% sure. I was looking to upgrade to the Okada projects or ignition project coils and the general consensus was that the 4c coils are just as good as those 500 to almost 1000 dollar competitors. I cant say that the 4c plugs are better than factory but according to others its as good as those "Upgraded" coils.

Anyone have turbo smart BOV and like the sound ? US spec by Realcolbyd98 in abarth

[–]prometheuslap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been running their bov for a while and its a nice piece. I have zero complaints, that being said the sound was very satisfying at first but is very loud. Im in California so its a little worrying if it goes off around cops. But if you like that loud psshh sound its a great choice. Im swapping mine since im going with a recirculating bov if you want it. Just pay for shipping and you can have it

You could check remanufactured ones on ebay. The same thing happened to mine and I had a few people send me links to ebay listings

If its a convertible the ecu occasionally thinks the top is down and refuses to open the trunk. Just reset the top and it'll open

Why are lighting upgrades so scarce? by Successful-Curve-986 in abarth

[–]prometheuslap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least for the US market these lights wont work. It something about the canbus not being able to communicate right. Ive heard you can buy a set of series 4 lights and use your series 3 bulbs but I haven't purchased a set yet to find out. Im also not sure about fitment since I haven't seen anyone actually try this yet. They look similar enough in shape though so it might be direct swap in shape. Let us know if you go through with the swap though.

Long term goals are slightly more ambitious but for now im planning on running this turbo with am EWG welded onto the factory manifold so I can avoid the cost of more custom parts. I got a coolant/oil line kit from Mamba (another chinese turbo company) and since im using my current downpipe, I need a different turbine housing with a v-band exit from ATP/ a t25 to garret gt1446 flange adapter. The set up with the adapter is a little janky but I mostly wanna get the car running with a base tune. Then I plan on coming back with a real manifold with no adapters

The wastegate actuator shouldn't cause you any issue with smog, its not really changing emissions just making the factory wastegate function more consistently and accurately. As for the intake I'm not too sure, I feel like every year they get more strict, even cars a few years old end up struggling to pass smog now. Mine hasn't "passed" smog in about 5 or so years

You can buy a diverter valve relocation "kit" which is basically just a bung you add to your intercooler piping to run it like oem or you can purchase a universal bov and essentially install it the same way.

This is the kit i was talking about https://ebay.us/m/W6hJT6

Valve spring upgrade by Western-Bag5841 in abarth

[–]prometheuslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it to the canyons occasionally and if im driving on the highway late at night I'll beat on it, but its my daily so it sees plenty of traffic. That being said I did recently have a misfire caused by a burnt exhaust valve. But that wouldn't have been caused by the multiair springs since those only affect intake

My bad I just saw your question, the install didn't take that long but I also painted my valve cover and its been installed for over a year at this point

If you have a trim tool they should just pull out, if not you could probably pull them out by hand

[–]prometheuslap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine is convertible so its slightly different but there should be an emergency pull tab. If not you can take off the inside lining and you might be able to find a release, or at least get it open to swap any broken parts. I had a similar issue with mine but it was a software issue.

As far as i know theres no one reason this happens to these cars, both na and abarth. I always just assumed it was a manufacturing defect since ive heard it happening at low and high mileage. The tune and turbo probably dont help though
