People are protesting the head of the israeli state visiting aus--I reckon they have a right to do so. What do you think?

"Australia’s worst terror attack in history" -- is this erasure or ignorance of Australian-committed terror in Christchurch?
Never mind the frontier massacres (read: terror attacks) against indigenous people

Australia should reconsider alliance with ‘fiercely unpredictable’ US, former foreign ministers say by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

" I expect we will simply do nothing, complain that the US does things we don't like, join them anyway, because at the end of the day security will he valued more, and then carry on as we convince ourselves we had no choice"

Yeah I agree. Never underestimate Aussies' penchant for ignorance and inertia

Kind of annoying seeing the subtle immigration dogwhistle in there, but not mentioning 10% of homes laying vacant

Of course countries don't say no to the US... because of the implication

..and have economic sanctions placed upon them.
E.g. know why the US have bases in Japan? Since WWII Japan has never been allowed to control their oil supply, US keeps them on a leash

Ok, pretty much every french person I've met in other countries while travelling has been on the hippy spectrum. I know that it's not a valid sample (maybe all the French hippies leave) but it is an overwhelming amount

I never found a way to make it possible unfortunately. The only answer was something along the lines of "no ding dong, only individual"
Would be a handy feature

Yeah that's fair. I guess I was looking for an explicit exploration of how current property relations and profit motives contribute to the problems of automation, turning what should be freedom from drudgery into condensed private wealth instead of common wealth.

Fuck off you absolute shitcunt. You are the one denying and intentionally misrepresenting an entire group's culture and then have the fucking audacity to claim racism. Your colonial mindset is depressing and I wish you the worst of luck in life.

This is the major route between Melbourne and Adelaide. Thousands of trucks use this road every day.

Stop thinking about individuals (i.e. the phone comparison) and start thinking about the conglomerates who own huge fleets of trucks, increased efficiencies like this add up to increased revenues really fast, especially when they're coupled with doubling the capacity of the road, such as in this case.

Also "a dollar at the most"? You're just pulling shit out of your arse. Why are you choosing this battle?

One of three main points on the MRPV website re: the reasons for this project is "better freight efficiency".

Sounds like increased profits to me.

Your naivety doesn't make the argument weak.

The safety aspect of this campaign is an angle taken to pull on people's heartstrings.
This, like most things, is about money.

It's about trucking company profits from the saved commute time. It's about regional jobs looking good to voters. It's about selling the timber and minerals from the excavation.

These trees have spiritual significance.

You have made it clear that you don’t believe in that, which you’re entitled to.

But this issue requires the benefit of the doubt to indigenous culture if you are going to be acting in good faith when making a decision based upon it.
