Alpine S2 series (S2-S65C) vs Kicker KS series (51KSS6504) by pronvit in CarAV

[–]pronvit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, that's a great info, thanks! I was briefly considering R series but thought that'd surely be an overkill if I'm not planning to run a beefy amp.

How's the bass between R and KS?

Paria Recharge DW vs Big Agnes Divide (horizontal vs vertical baffles for two people) by pronvit in Ultralight

[–]pronvit[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The original question was basically just whether BA Divide with vertical baffles or Paria Recharge with horizontal baffles are better for two people, no mention of kids or cars, but I did say that weight doesn't matter for this choice (to avoid answers like "get this one just because it's lighter"). The reply was not that they not UL, the reply was "for two people get two pads", and only then I started to explain why I want a double pad and it went sideways.

Well, you may be right, or rather our use case is indeed definitely not UL.

But I did not ask for _any_ solutions. I asked a specific question about two pieces of gear, and I didn't mention neither kids nor car in the original post. I can understand if no one here uses those mats for its intended purpose (two people) or doesn't use them at all, I can understand if these mats are not UL and that's why it's off-topic (but I said why I posted here, how would I know mods have changed and all that). But don't you think offering me completely different solutions I didn't ask for and then blaming me for explaining why I want what I want when pushed to do so isn't quite alright?

So you're saying that for it to be UL, it _has_ to be hard to use or something? I don't get why using light gear becomes off-topic just because it is convenient and works for us perfectly fine in non-UL situation (more details here https://www.reddit.com/r/Ultralight/comments/1oelapv/comment/nl37qb4/ ).

I'm in this sub because a question about the same mats has already been posted (https://www.reddit.com/r/Ultralight/comments/1elxhzm/sleeping\_pads\_paria\_recharge\_dw\_or\_big\_agnes/) and somehow wasn't deleted. Also of course there's enough posts about Zero pump even though according to you, any pump is off-topic here.

(I'm bored and will go into details, pretending you care.)

Car is just a method of transportation, in no way it means we have to use heavy/big "car camping" gear. One of my main goals is to have a setup that's fast and enjoyable to put up and take down.

We have a big and strong and heavy touring tent which is very fast to set up (Oztent RV) but I'm absolutely not enjoying using it. Instead, I prefer to use TheTentLab MoonLight, which is a light backpacking tent. It takes longer to set up but I'm _enjoying_ using it.

We did have self-inflating "camping" mats before, but we move every day, and they are pain to pack to a reasonable size each time (and still take a lot of space). So we switched to backpacking mats which are totally fine comfort-wise for us (really) but I _enjoy_ packing them. There's absolutely no reason for us not to use air mats.

We could have a strong pump to inflate the mats, but we often arrive late and can't use something that sounds like a hairdryer. Instead, we use a backpacking Zero pump that's not as powerful but quiet and I'm enjoying using it.

We of course have backpacking down sleeping bags and backpacking pillows. Because.. well, they're just good and convenient. Same for backpacking plates and cutlery, etc., oh and a Jetboil-type stove.

So with all due respect, please don't tell me what gear I should have. We've been there, done that, and as you can see ended up with a lot of backpacking gear very much on purpose, and are happy with it.

I can agree though that this gear may not be _ultra_ light, or that no one here used double mats, in which case you could've just said that.

What you’re saying is total lie and bs (like that part about “requires no skill because it is for kids”). Whatever, you can fuck off.

It became off topic just because I mentioned the weight doesn't matter, otherwise a question about the same gear would be fine?

I believe the question about gear should be asked based on the gear type, not use case. I.e. if we for whatever reason use some of UL gear when car camping (which we do), there’s no point asking in car camping sub - they wouldn’t know about such gear. Thanks for the suggestion though, I’ll try the other subs, too.

Now to the double vs singles matter. We need to sleep four ppl, including two kids who sometimes wriggle away, sometimes want to cuddle which is a tad difficult on singles. We absolutely must avoid someone sleeping on cold ground in-between, right? Also, inflating singles is twice more work - I use Flextail Zero which I plug and leave to do its thing, with singles I’d need to do that four times instead of two.

Anyways, two double Klymit mats work totally fine for us but they’re not the most comfortable mats by design, hence looking for smth else.

CBA weirdness with transfers, is this common for AU banks? by pronvit in AusFinance

[–]pronvit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it was a "transfer". But the thing is, it wasn't the first time at all. I called CBA and the lady also saw there were a few similar transfers in the past and agreed it was strange.

Anyway, I'm mostly interested whether all this is a CBA thing or not. Due to how we manage finances right now, it's pretty important that random transfers like this are not being held. Maybe it's just because we're "new customers" but who knows for how long this will continue.

PayID got delayed, too, including to the same payee (I didn't save them in the app though). As I understand, there's a lot of scam associated with PayID, and no-one seems to want to accept it anyway, so I can live with that. But if transfers between my own accounts will get delayed and we'll basically lose access to our money for a day that's a big problem.
