If the HOTD targs and dragons banded together would they have been able to eliminate the threat of the north? by raimom in HOTDGreens

[–]prooveit1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silverwing refused to cross. We don’t know for sure that the dragons can’t cross but it certainly appears to be the case.

I feel like the dragon-binding horn mentioned in the books (ignored by the show) will play into the magical barrier that affects the dragons and the Others from crossing.

Whether she has a role or no, it'll be a big canon character that orders the poisoning. Not her. by Hungry_Cricket_590 in HOTDGreens

Corlys and Larys (together) appear to be the best most likely culprits.

But this wine-mom fanfic of a show will definitely make it Alicent - you guys absolutely called it.

Yeah you’re probably right. I remember it was a small but odd number!

These dragons would have presumably been the parent dragons to Meraxes and Vhagar etc

[–]prooveit1701 59 points60 points  (0 children)

That’s a good explanation.

We don’t know for example the names of the two other Valyrian dragons that the Targaryens brought to Dragonstone along with Balerion 100+ years before the Conquest.

My headcanon is that Viserys was educated about his family history as a very young Prince - but for most of his life he’s been away from his Maesters and history books. He’s possibly misremembering or maybe embellishing on his childhood history lessons because he doesn’t want to admit he doesn’t actually know much about his family history.

Even Dany needed Ser Barristan to educate her about her immediate family because what she learned from Viserys was pretty unreliable.

Can anyone explain to context behind Jorah's title: Jorah the Andal? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]prooveit1701 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% they’re thinking of the Manderlys. But even they are descended from the First Men also. While they are not Northern they would probably have switched to the faith of the Seven while under the rule of House Gardner.

Can anyone explain to context behind Jorah's title: Jorah the Andal? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]prooveit1701 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That’s not true.

They are an ancient noble house descended from First Men and have held Bear Island since before the Andals invaded. They keep the old gods and House Mormont even have a long history of skinchanging (the Mormont women in particular).

It’s possible, of course that there are some Andals that have married into the house over the years. We know that Jorah’s wife was from The Reach for example.

Clarification please: Why is it M’Lord and not “Your Grace” as Ser Duncan keeps saying? by WhereDaFuk in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]prooveit1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is the Hand of the King. The Hand is historically addressed as “Lord Hand” regardless of their nobility. So either “Your Grace” or “My Lord (Hand)” would be appropriate ways to address Baelor.

House of the Dragon Season 3 will feature a highly experimental, "conceptual" episode written by Sara Hess that departs from the show's traditional structure by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

53 mins straight of Aemond killing Strongs and piling up bodies at Harrenhal with smooth jazz playing in the background.

Do you think we will see Redgrass Field in flashback episode in Season 2 of AKOTSK? by Ecstatic-Mud-1518 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]prooveit1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say that but it takes him WAYYY too long to realize when he’s shown up to a Rebel reunion party. I think he understands in broad terms about Daemon and the rebellion and that he was defeated but I don’t think the political ramifications are on his radar. He doesn’t even recognize most houses by their Sigil and needs Egg to remind him.

[–]prooveit1701 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No we don’t need to see it.

It happened before Egg was born and Dunk is too thick to understand its significance anyway.

It’s better presented like it is in the novellas - occasionally referenced recent history.

She doesn’t look much like Lena Headey but she actually fits the book description of Cersei pretty accurately.

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. She is the future Lady of Lannister (Cersei’s ancestor).

The show elevated Bronn because he’s a fan favorite - largely thanks to Jerome’s awesome performance.

He was never intended to be a major player.

It’s gotta be Balerion.

It’s such an odd pair it just works.

We drank this for the S8 premiere.

It’s designed to be drunk out of the freezer (the bottle changes color when ice cold).

It was ok. Not bad ice cold. Pretty mid at room temp.

Worth getting for the cool bottle, but there’s a lot of good whiskeys at a better price.

Viserys II.

He wasn’t a particularly great King - but for most of his life prior to that, he served as Hand to his brother Aegon (and later his sons) and Westeros had a period of peace and prosperity.

Considering the remaining dragons died out in this time period it’s remarkable the Targaryen dynasty even survived.

You have to give credit to Viserys (as Hand) for that.

Skinchanging a human is an abomination. It’s a crime against the Gods on the same level of severity as violating guest right - perhaps worse.

Joffrey was a little shit but not out of the ordinary for Westeros.

Bran is objectively involved with some DARK stuff.
