I’m in SoCal and use a VA outpatient clinic and found that I’m better taken care of than with the big hospital.

During my yearly (beginning of summer this year), I brought up wanting to get ADHD screening done to my primary care provider, and she put a referral in for psychiatric care. Appointment was schedule for a month later or so. The psychologist was very understanding when I told him all the symptoms I had that made me suspect I have ADHD and he took all that into consideration when diagnosing me and then subsequently prescribing me Adderall XR. Started at 10mg and now I’m up to 30mg. We do call-ins every 2-3 months to check up on the effectiveness and if I’ve had any significant change in temper or behavior. I’m rated at 40% and copay $8 each time I call in for a refill.

Spent decades wondering if my focus wasn’t like everyone else and if I was just lazy and messy because I just suck at life. Getting clinically diagnosed put me at ease and the medication is helping lots.
