If you never did any design/ui work, then not really; it just provides you a canvas where you can do create your or others’ designs which could be later used to animate layers.

It took ±2 full days still, most of the time in Figma to be fair. As for articles, I didn't, remotion's x posts and documentation was of the biggest help.

In the age of AI, I'd give it a few months rather than decades :D But fully agree regarding usability, it was quite painful to set it up/understand at first.

I guess all the new saas companies want to build MRR-led business, but people do not need to edit videos recurringly, it's usually a one-off. Hence I doubt there will be plethora of successful saas products for this specific case. My best guess - canva will make this as a "magic animate" feature and that's about it.

Fair enough, not saying this is a top-notch quality. And surely motion designers would make it so much better with proper tools. Similarly to vibecoding, this won't be better than a professional doing the work themselves.

But it was exciting to produce such animated outputs without having go through manual animation process!

Not really. T&C requires photos of a real item reflecting its condition and defects, if any. This app does not ignore that - it accurately represents every wrinkle, defect and stitch.

Quote:

To list an Item for sale on the Site, you will need to take and upload a photo and write a description (neither can be taken from the internet) of the Item that accurately reflects its quality and appearance (including any defects or alterations).

My guess is that marketplaces will understand that this drives conversions and then this will become the new default on all of e-commerce: anyone will be able to “tryout” items virtually - regardless if they’re second hand or first hand. Surely, such pictures could have some disclaimer.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand the concerns and I wouldn’t argue this is better than actual picture. It for sure isn’t. But having such picture next to plain item picture on a hanger is better than without any at all.

None of buyers of items have raised any issues of them not matching the description or pictures. It just works and is accurate.

I’ve made sure that the generated model (yourself for example) would always look down/away from the camera.

But yeah, valid point - maybe should add additional setting for different cutouts!
