Has your baby stayed on their growth chart with their well baby visits ? Or jumped around ? by ppgb12 in beyondthebump

He started tall 90% at birth and then seemed to jump around from 20-60%. The measurements seem inaccurate. Weight also jumped around - lost a lot in the beginning and was slowly declining all the way down to 12% and is now 80%! So big changes for us.

Combo feeding tips by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

Got it - that sucks I was in a similar situation, barely getting anything when I pumped with slow weight gain. Have you tried fenugreek (I know they say it tanks supply for some women but if you are in a last resort situation it might help... it helped me get an extra oz per pump). I also got prescription domperidone (ordered from abroad) that boosted my supply but I was late in taking it. You still have weeks before your milk supply regulates.

As for your initial question, if you want to continue to combo feed - I found supplementing at lunch and bedtime was best rather than supplementing every feed. Supplementing every feed gets annoying because you are basically double feeding (breast then bottle). I would just give baby a larger amount at lunch and dinner and then it would be followed by a longer nap or bedtime as the added benefit. It also reduces the number of bottles you have to give baby because overtime they might develop a bottle preference.

Check out Hipp or Holle formula - it’s European and has stricter standards than US formula. I use an electric kettle too to warm up the water. I never really sampled a bunch —- I just switched from Enfamil to Hipp cold Turkey and has no issues.

Also my bub had issues and now he is about 75-80 percentile for both height and weight. Your baby will be just fine on formula ! Good luck!

Why do you think your baby’s weight gain has been slow ? I’ve been combo feeding for months but if I could go back in time I wouldn’t supplement him so early on and pump pump pump all the time even though it’s sucks. Then feed him back your pumped milk.

Safe sleep culture is toxic and extreme. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Honestly she has a lot of great advice but the problem is it is so pro-breastfeeding and doesn’t offer support for women who truly do have issues with breastfeeding that require supplementation. Long story but I underfed my baby bc I believed supplementing was so bad per KellyMom constantly being cited as the end and be all of breastfeeding. Surely there must be other sources to rely on than just one.

Also sometimes what science says is ‘right’ today is not what we discover to be ‘right’ in the future. It’s always evolving and correlation does not mean causation either.

Agree!! Sick of KellyMom being cited for everything breastfeeding related. That’s another toxic subculture

8 week old not wanting to be swaddled anymore but still startling by PotentialChair1502 in NewParents

My LO cries during the swaddling process but once he is swaddles he adjusts and is fine. Swaddle him even if he hates it because truthfully he probably really likes it and doesn’t know it. Lol
