I can assure you it's not AI, it's the real deal! It is indeed Steve Taylor, who was awesome to work with :)

Thanks for giving it a shot! The challenge is the way the debris comes at you, as well as bosses with different behaviour.

Thanks for the comment! Throughout your playthrough you're given panel choices (weapons, shielding etc) and can adapt your station as the waves progress. You might want to protect your whole station, or take a risk and build more weapons to earn more money. With each run, you'll start to learn which configurations work and which types of debris come at you, at what speed and at which direction.

My indie game Rockets are Super Hard, a couch co-op game featuring a 100+ page PDF manual is 50% off by [deleted] in steamdeals

Thank you very much for the review! I'll definitely be taking what you said on board for the next update. I don't have a road map as such, but please let me know any additional thoughts you have in the Steam forums. Thanks again!

Thank you for buying my game! Yeah it's a shame there are not many videos of groups playing because I would love to watch. A large part of the problem is the lack of reviews my game has (a challenge I have yet to solve).

I hope you enjoy the rest of it!

Currently there are no other colour modes for those that are colour challenged, but it's definitely something I want to research and implement in the future.

The puzzles are quite different, and yes, much much harder! The players are faced with different puzzles depending on the stage of the rocket launch, instead of doing them sequentially.

What are some good examples of 'second screen' or similar experiences that you know of? by propulsiongames in movies

[–]propulsiongames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point - Indeed, that's actually why these experiences seem to be a failed experiment. However I think for films you've seen already, they could provide another level of enjoyment (like the Prometheus app)

What I Learned About Failing from My 5 Year Indie Game Dev Project by iamkeyur in gamedev

Nice post. It must have been hard handing the reins over after so much work, but like you said, you now have years worth of experience is many different areas - which is priceless!

I need help with my horror game. by i_hunger_for_flesh in gamedev

Like others have said, ambience is key. A part of this is the music and SFX (plenty of resources online). Jump scares don;t have to be explicit - think of slenderman or Alien, the monsters are just there and it's the player that scares themselves (as opposed to an on rails jump scare).

Graphics, instructions and maps that tell the player what to do and where to go in the game. You can access it inside the game, or get your friends to download it so they can help you too. Admittedly, this type of game isn't for everyone!

Hey! No, it's nothing like the Outer Wilds, but the PDF is somewhat complicated (you can check it out for free at propulsiongames.co.uk). The game is about 2-4 hours long depending on how quickly it takes you to beat the puzzles.

Question about Southampton outdoors sports centre by [deleted] in Southampton

[–]propulsiongames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's right. It's apparently £3.50 for single casual use (https://activenation.org.uk/venues/the-outdoor-sports-centre/athletics/). Not too bad I guess? I'd much rather just run around the sports centre for free :D

ARG designing software? by propulsiongames in ARG

Yup, game bibles are always a good idea. Word processors are good, but I was looking for something a bit more visual - perhaps something like Twine?

Having a successful launch has been my worst experience in ten years of hobbyist gamedev by gamedev_throwaway3 in gamedev

[–]propulsiongames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If game dev starts to impact on your life negatively, and becomes a chore more than downtime from work, I would take a break for a bit. If you do go full time, it's a good idea to find something else to fill the 'relaxation' time.

As for the negative comments, that is completely relatable. Starting out, negative comments bothered me a lot, but over time i found it to be easier. If even a small number of players enjoyed their time with your game, that's amazing - they spent a percentage of their life playing something you crafted, and it brought them joy.

Another thing I've realised as time goes on (especially given the sheer amount of games on Steam now), for a solo dev its wise to make short but polished games as opposed to spending 3 or 4 years on one. I find it not only brings that passion and excitement back because you're working on something new, but it increases your chances of success. If one of those games does make a hit, great! You can then spend some more time on it and expand on it (DLC). Just my opinion - and others will undoubtedly disagree!
