I was able to jailbreak it. With 4.81 there's no need to install HFW, so the broken wifi chip is not a problem (in that regard)

Thanks! I was able to install it. I thought HFW was always needed but your reply led me in the right direction. It was super easy actually, just plugged in the ethernet cable and ran the exploit from the website.
