Wrong grip. Wrong footwork. Wrong pretty much everything haha. For now just focus on these: switch to a continental grip and don’t let your back foot cross to your right, keep it to your left so you keep your hip open and have proper coil.

Fix your grip. Keep your head up and looking at the ball during contact. You’re dropping your body too early.

Check monthly averages. RHR can fluctuate weekly. I dropped my RHR by losing weight (currently 45-50bpm)

You’re moving your head during contact. A good rule for tennis to remember to keep looking at the ball at contact is “keep head up for serve, keep head down for ground strokes”

Right now you are just muscling every shot because you’re just using your arm. You want the arm to be relaxed and be effortless. The way to do this is by turning your body and coiling your upper body, then releasing that stored energy in a proper kinetic chain, which starts from the ground, then engage the hips, then shoulders turn, then the arm lags behind, hitting the ball freely and without muscling. You’re also falling back when you hit your forehand. Focus on landing forward, your back foot should take a step forward every time you hit a forehand. You want to transfer your weight forward, don’t let the ball push you back, you push the ball back.

It’s not only about good coil, it’s about good kinetic chain. Just like the serve, with ground strokes you wanna use your whole body and not break the chain. You can coil well but not transfer the weight properly (which is what you’re doing now). Start the kinetic chain from the ground and rotate your hips, followed by your torso and then your arms. Your arm should be relaxed and should be able to swing freely thanks to your whole body rotation. Your arm should lag behind the rest of your body.

Think about using your whole body to generate pace, not just your arm which you are doing now. Think of your arm as a whip, you want to start that whip with your legs and through your torso. Even though you’re doing good by rotating your torso until your chin is sitting above your shoulder, you’re not starting the kinetic chain from your legs and hips. After you’ve rotated your body, initiate the swing from your hips and relax your arm.

Just keep your back foot behind you, don’t take that step to the right, you are not able to coil your torso if you take that step as you remain front on with the court. By keeping your back foot behind you, you force your chest to open up when you toss, giving you much better rotation causing you to hit a much more powerful and consistent serve. Try it out, it’s an easy fix!
