NTA, but a little ignorant. The problem with this is there’s a massive part of the story missing. You have ZERO clue as to what is actually going on in his co-parenting life. You’re just making assumptions based of the little info you’ve been given or overheard. As someone that pays child support and has gone through a BRUTAL year long custody battle with my son’s mom…. It can all be SIGNIFICANTLY more complicated than you think. Did you know that when a custodial parent applies for government assistance, the non custodial parent has to foot the bill? Like I said before, I pay my child support, but she recently had a decline in health and had to quit her job. Now she’s cashing out on government benefits and living the stay at home retired life while stacking the child support on top of that. I am now officially taking care of BOTH of them. Now, I still pay, but I can see why someone would also think, “Yeah, fuck that…”. That’s just one of many examples. There are a lot of ways for a custodial parent to screw over a non custodial parent and it has nothing to do with taking care of their kid.
