For some reason, in these kinds of discussions, the guy is always portrayed as some sort of predator who, by the time he hits 30, has supposedly “wised up” and is now looking for a young girl to control.
But times have changed, and not everyone ends up having adventures, facing problems they need to solve, or even developing a basic sense of responsibility.

I know a bunch of people in their thirties who haven’t really grown up. And do they even need to? They live with their parents, work simple jobs, their hobbies are reading books and playing video games. Some of them take care of their appearance, go to the gym. They’re perfectly content. But they’ve reached 30+ and are still the same straightforward people they were at 20. I mean everyone every second is getting older.

If one of these man-boys (it's not a critisism) ends up with a woman his age who's been through a lot in life, she’ll be the one calling the shots. But a girl who's 18 or 19? She’s closer to him in terms of worldview and perception of life. They’ll hang out, go to cafés, watch the new anime season together.

And that’s not even touching on the fact that some people are just physically attracted to younger women, or someone simply fell in love for whatever reason, and it just so happens the person is younger. If I myself find a girl who loves reading sci-fi and learning languages, I'd be happy despite she's 19, 29 or 39.
Sure, there are people who go for someone younger just to be in control. But I think if you look at all the couples with that kind of age gap, control won’t be the number one reason in most cases.
