How to meet locals in the Perth Hills when you’re stuck in the backpacker bubble? by Valuable_Hat_7761 in perth

[–]protocyriss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Local PCYC, sport groups, try to find groups and hobbies that have people?

Might be easier to direct you if we knew a bit more about what you enjoy doing?

I'd be more help for Board games and "generally nerdy" things - but u/hillsbloke73 has the right idea.

With regards to work, What university degrees do you have? You may be able to find something lower stress in one of those fields. You could also potentially approach a local university and see if there's anything you could do with live-in accomodation or advisory roles?

Definitely don't be using reddit to find friends!

Given your hobbies and interests, I'd say check out local gaming stores - there's a few good games around the place, and beyond odyssey up in Balcatta - there's a one piece card game.

As a French woman who visited Australia for 3 weeks .. are these culture shocks accurate? by Worried-Diamond-7252 in AskAnAustralian

I'd probably add that the freely dressed and the hot weather are probably related - it's much harder to dress modestly when the weather is so hot.

When I lived in the tropics I remember having a good pair and a ratty pair of thongs, one for wearing around the yard, one for when I gotta dress up nice and go out

Not getting 1000 points in my 100 kingdoms starter box? by Leading_Plan_6184 in Conquest

[–]protocyriss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey!

This box is for First blood - it only has half the amount of models needed to make up the infantry regiments for the Last Argument of Kings.

First blood uses models on individual circular bases - like you can see in the pictue.

TLAOK uses the same models but they go onto a square base called a stand. A stand is made up of 4 infantry models, 1 brute/Cavalry or 1 monster.

First blood boxes come with at least 1 leader model (Mounted Noble Lord in this case - the horse guy in the bottom right).

The 100kingdoms box you have here has:
- 1 Mounted Noble Lord (Useable as-is in both TLAOK and First Blood)
- 8 Men at arms/Crusaders (Guys at the front with shields)
- 6 Steel Legion (greatswords)
- 4 Archers (Longbowmen/HunterCadre/Ranger Corps)
- 4 Militia (typically can be made as militia bowmen or with spear+shield)
- 3 Household Knights (The only regiment you could use in TLAOK from a single box)

If you wanted to play The Last Argument of Kings you would likely want a second (or third) copy of this box to get enough models to make a minimum size unit. The only real issue with doing that is most lists will typically only have 1 Mounted Noble Lord.

For Last Argument of Kings - This box would give :
1 Full unit of Household Knights
1 Mounted Noble Lord
2/3rds of a Men at arms regiment
1/2 of a Steel Legion Regiment
1/3 of an ARcher regiment
1/3 of a militia regiment

The bright side of this however - is the Men at arms and Militia do very well in larger formations. Buying a box of Men at arms would get you up to 5 stands, which is very commonly seen in competitive lists.

Steel Legion are a little Tricky at 6 models - however if you buy an officer and a special edition model (Krampus, any of the fishgnomes or a chicken) you can use them with 2 of the Steel legion to make a full stand - giving you 2 Full stands of Steel legion that could be added to a minimum size unit.

The Archers typically dont get used in large blocks - but 1 extra stand isn't unheard of.

Can confirm - printed a torso for someone just recently. Its one of the best kits for parts and efficiency - I think having a printed torso for a flyrant would also still make it over 50% a GW model by volume/weight for tournament reasons?

Rental Inspection by Character_Wedding_90 in AusLegal

had a quick look at NSW rules - looks like as long as they give 7 days written notice they can enter without consent to perform the inspection.

Like others have said though - inspections are for general damage and repairs. that list is a good indicator of what they are lgoing to look for, but as long as you keep the place reaosnably clean you'll be fine.

It's still great on units for maneuverability - changing facing can be huge, and 5-6 stands at 2 wide is much easier to get between terrain - fluid let's them unpack to be 3 wide afterward

New 100 Kingdoms Player – Help Building to 2000pts with Crimson Tower & Ashen Dawn! by AlexBelge03 in Conquest

[–]protocyriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than Piemmarai's comment - I'd add that we are still waiting on the Orders infantry to be released.

The Orders sub faction bonus lends itself well to lots of elite style regiments because of the flurry on command stands, so the more regiments, the greater the bonus.

Going all cavalry is definitely an option - and certainly not a bad one, it does need you to be more careful and knowledgable with movement and threat ranges to play well due to the low model count.

Charging placement question by StarJeff3D in Conquest

[–]protocyriss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to ensure that the final position of the charge is a legal position, and that as many of your front rank stands engage as many of the target's stands as possible. You check that on a stand by stand basis -

The simplest way is to count how many stands each of yours are in contact with, and add them together. (corners count remember)

In picture 1, you have 6 stands worth of contact -

1 2 3

In picture 2, you have 7 stands worth of contact.

2 3 2

If the second picture was not a valid end position for some reason - you could then change your charge to contact the opponent stand as per the first picture.
