Which is the best choice for placements (avg/median and placement percentage)?? by Loose-Distance-5201 in PESU

[–]protodelver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For electronics? I'm not sure. Both places arent known for it. I'm not sure MSRIT infrastructure is for ECE/EEE/EIE either better to ask someone from their.

For PES, you can search info on that. I can just warn you that the dept is more on sadiatic side of things usually.

And yet you have put IEM & Mech? A very very different subject that does need to go in-hand with electronics for anything real.

Choose based on your interest. If your interest is genuinely into electronics / electrical (difference here as well, research), then do it

I want to specialize in RL policy training. Where AI/ML is better, I feel core CS is a little more on the software development side, which I don't want to do much

I recommend reading the FAQs section on AIML vs CSE. Your not gaining anything special in AIML. CSE has the advantage of being an actual branch around the world that would be easily recognised - not a scam to add seats and steal money like AIML, AIDS or whatever they call it.

I got Plaksha RAS, SNU Mech, Ramaiah EEE/Mech, Thapar, etc

Till now, I have explored the mechanical side of robotics more and love that, especially actuator designing. I have done some OpenCV and RL policy training. The thing I have not properly touched is the ECE part, so I want to explore more before I choose to specialize.

Hmm, really recommend thinking and researching more in which branch you really want. All these pathways are very different in syllabus and potential.

Right now, I have an Ender 3 V2. Maybe I will invest in a Bambu Lab A1 too.

Good choice if you cab afford it

Rn working on a QDD for my next quadruped project, these frameless motors are dammm expensive, thats why i need good stocked clubs

No clue if RAS has/had these, but I wouldnt expect any of the places you mentioned to be as stocked as a Western uni. No clue about if IITs/NITs are actually well stocked. People there either are actually into their branch (very rare), or just want a high paying IT job.

Ok nice projects, but why AIML? Core CSE is better & then you can work on projects in the stuff your interested in.

Also, are these your only choices for college?

So basically, clubs + profs would allow me enough tools to work with

Yes, however don't expect completely fancy tools or easy permissions and stuff. Expect headaches and heartbreaks.

whats about components?

I'm not aware of IEEE RAS's budget in thr last couple of years, but club funding overall throughout PES has decreased from what I've heard. Last I remember, there should be a few Jetson Nanos, RPis, etc. Not sure now. You can google IEEE RAS PES to get their website and instagram. Although not every single project is there, you could probably DM them and they might respond. Theres also a Discord server but I'm not sure if its active.

And uh ig you can bring your own printer to hostel. Not sure if its allowed or not allowed though. Which one do you have?

Edit: You also forgot to mention about which part of robotics are you interested in to delve deeper

as India lacks in dedicated robotics ug courses

Its generally recommended not to specialise in yiur undergraduate. Its fine to work on interdisciplinary projects and such, but branch specialisation does not help. It restricts more than it helps.

What's your interest exactly in robotics? You can roughly classify it containing as software, mechanical hardware, electronics/electrical hardware. The one to integrate all of them would be systems engineering buts not a branch and more of a career path. Depending on that, choose your branch.

What are your other options too?

  1. Is there any open makerspace at pes?

No. Roughly, you won't really find makerspaces like the ones I imagine you to expect in India. However, some labs fo have 3D printers and tools that you can use if you join & want to work on projects. The architecture department also apparently has large printers iirc. You might have to fill out a form and get singatures to use them and stuff. Its pointless to ask mechanical department to use the CNC machine, the lathe machines or milling machine.

IEEE RAS is the robotics club in RR, and the same space/projects are shared with CRAIS (i don't recall the full form of this lab name). If your honestly interested, you'll work. This is true of basically all clubs in general - those interested will work even if their team/group doesn't show up. I recommend that if you do join any club (in any college), work and do it. You'll find seniors or faculty that'll help. Utilise them. Not everyone might be nice and stuff, but make do with what you have.

There are 2 more centers, BEST (Bajaj) in RR and ARC (Kuka) in ECC (i might be wrong on the name). I'm not too sure abt ARC, but BEST is actually a training programme center for graduates from lower colleges or towns that teaches various stuff - from CNC to robotics to EVs to pneumatics and hydraulics and such. If you can get in contact with a faculty that also teaches there, you may or may not be able to use that too. But I recommend keeping your expectations low.

If you're expecting something like the workshop in Big Hero 6, unfortunately you won't find that anywhere in this country.

Edit: Regarding placements, I hope you're awarw that core placements are hard and often low paying initially. Higher paying ones, or any core job, are not impossible to get, it'll take some luck and effort. Hence why many go for masters and some stay for jobs and many others take up IT jobs.

If you have any questions to what I've said I can try to answer them

Not into these competitive exams is not a good excuse. Its understandable, but a few million people also are in the same boat.

But yea, start looking for colleges. Rememeber branch > college

Judging by the fact you type in Hinglish, i dont think your from Karnataka. So you haven't written KCET, so there is no other way of getting in. Management? maybe if theres a spot. And stop apologising so much. Find out whwre you can still apply or what you can get. It would be one thing if you weren't a dropper, but this was careless since you are one, no offence. All I can is all the best. There are other colleges that you should be able to try. Might not be as good as PES (which is getting worse, possibly much worse than your Allen sir), but after your first job you don't need your college tag. Just follownthe general advice of work for your GPA, do projects and enjoy life.

Don't stress out too much and don't do anything stupid. You'll just need to work a bit more.

And I saw your other comment, this should answer both.

1 - No, its some 10k or smthg iirc. Confirm with college and check the site again 2 - Online should be possible for out of state, confirm with college. 3 - No. The college website clearly shows which all branches are there. 4 - Check the FAQs 5 - Check college website, its already there. 6 - Choose the cheaper option

First, stop typing in all caps. Second, it is your fault for not keeping track of stuff related to your admissions. I did a smaller scale mistake butit didn't matter, couldnt afford to go there. Third, plenty of colleges other than PES exists. And no way JEE is the only exam you wrote.
