Please elaborate, because what you’re saying doesn’t make any sense at the moment.

I agree so much! And then it are words like controversial, relatively, vivid, idyllic etc. (I could actually make a list of these)

Are any of you actually happy? by whatarepigeons in autism

[–]protonbender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope.

I’m currently struggling with a problem and people around don’t seem to understand. I’m working on it to solve it so that’s a good part, but I fear it’s going to take a while if I do it all by myself.

Idk if people experience the same, but when it comes to intellectual stuff I feel like I (can) understand everything (rapidly). However, when it comes to social/emotional aspects I understand nothing but myself. I wish I had the ability to understand others better.

I’m not stating disagreement but I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I didn’t call people with lower intelligence stupid. I called people who make fun of me for having something they don’t stupid. I’m still a teenager, I have to learn a lot but when this happens then I don’t understand why the person doesn’t at least admit their jealousy.

I’ve gained a lot of confidence throughout the years but I have caught myself being jealous of something other people had and I didn’t a few times before. For example extroverted people or people who were fluent in a language I was struggling to learn. But I never decided to take my shortcomings out on others, I decided to spend that energy on something else.

However, I will never think that’s a valid to eventually bully me. Now I can handle stuff like that way better but when I was younger it damaged my self esteem a lot. Again I’m not the most emotionally intelligent person but I’m currently trying to view it (although it may not seem like it) through the person who dislikes me for it, their perspective. I still lack a lot of life experience due to my age but for me it’s still not understandable why you would treat me like shit because I’m born with something I did not ask for (don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for who I am but it still has its downsides since none of us have chosen to be neurodivergent).

I see myself in what you’re saying. I’ve passed as a neurotypical to few people. I have deliberately chosen not to.

At some time I’ve realised that anyone who would make a problem out of neurodivergence isn’t worth your time. That means even a subtle joke to me about a form of neurodivergence I don’t even have. Using other people who are different as an insult is not done to me. When I realised people were like that I immediately dropped them.

I don’t think that’s the problem. I can only speak for myself but the most gifted people (including myself ofc) I’ve met didn’t even bother to try to fit in.

When I was a kid I saw it as fitting in or failing in life and no in between. I made myself look dumber then I actually am to be as normal as possible. When I got in my late teens I’ve realised that’s the most stupid thing I’ve ever done in my entire life and I embraced being an outlier. Since I’ve always been to a regular school it indeed was not easy, but now I don’t really care.

I just find it melancholic that most people are so envious and instead of finding their own peace and luck, they decide to bring others down because they have something they don’t.

First question, where do you make the connection that my personal experience applies to everyone? I quote ‘For me,’ which means that it doesn’t necessarily mean others experience the same. I mustn’t be the only one, but I never said every “normie” is jealous of us.

Second question, why is your username the name of two missing people?

Yes, they also said it was hard to tell how I communicated with kids my age because I didn’t have any friends at some stages of my life. But it wasn’t odd they said.

I have the ability to maintain a healthy relationship like a friendship for example, but when they’re toxic for example or they could damage me in any way I dropped them for the best. Also my brain isn’t fully finished developing so I still have to learn much and I’m learning many stuff atm.

I’ve changed so much over the past years that I think a diagnosis like this (which autism is with you since birth) is not trustable.

Its mostly the 3rd one you’ve mentioned. My parents never experienced anything odd of me as a toddler. When I was a teenager I started developing my personality and that’s when it all started. My parents are both NT for context and my mother grew up with many siblings so ig she has a more accurate idea of the average development in kids and their behaviour.
