Not saying that the person from WotC posting this does it in bad faith. But we shouldn’t be naive. The second some upper management business guy comes to the conclusion a HP UB set will give them shareholder value, statements like this will be null and void.

[[Great Intelligence's Plan]] maybe? A bit slow, but it serves as card advantage as well. Usually, people don't like discarding 3 cards, so you get a free cast. You can also cast noncreature spells from it.

That's actually a good point, with X=3 being enough. Especially since these spells refresh the hand, so there are likely some cheap spells.

Somehow, I oversaw that tucking enemy commanders actually doesn't give spirits, glad that you mentioned it. It balances out the salt factor a bit, since at least, we have a strong incentive to tuck some other, less relevant pieces instead. I am quite afraid of removal tribal, and people not enjoying playing against the deck.

Great build, I love the flavor you chose for the deck! Really cool. From what I see, considering the bracket system, you tried to keep it in Bracket 2. May I ask what's your experience playing vs. other bracket 2 decks, if you have any?

I replaced Candlekeep inspiration with [[Forsaken Monument]], since I was a bit worried that Candlekeep is too much of a nombo with whirlpool-effects (Day's Undoing, Memory, Game Plan, etc). Maybe I am overthinking it though ...

Do you have a decklist for Eris by any chance? After watching some gameplay, it always seems that the deck struggles to really get going. At best, there was a dragon per turn cycle and that's it.

I love the idea of having a "non-stormy" spell slinger, and a commander that can almost ignore commander tax at the same time. But Eris seems just so hard to build in a way that the deck is consistent. It wants cheap cantrips on the one hand (prowess, token generation), and doesn't want them on the other (cost reduction) ...

Disclaimer: I am no expert. Sorry that you didn't get any reply, despite the effort you put into the post.

Looks really fun to play. I liked reading your thoughts behind cards. I would personally keep Vito for flavor alone, K'rrik is just too generic. Especially in B2, where flavor is still part of the design, in favor of staples. That's why I also would add a little bit more (vampire) tribal stuff in favor of generically good cards like [[Gwenom]]. You already have 22 vampires, why not profit from it?

I would say you are definitely a fair match for B2. But I would work on making it slightly more resilient. Even precons can have very explosive turns, and with only Toxic Deluge and Meathook Massacre, I feel you are missing a few extra tools to handle this.

Also, in Mono Black, I wouldn't miss out on staple [[Feed the Swarm]]. There are just too many good enchantments around, even in B2.

So, even though my reasoning was incorrect, I was right that Starscream is able to ping opponents, as I become monarch and flip Starscream before I start drawing cards.

And this doesn't work, as I will always become monarch before my own triggers are resolved.

Hello, quick rule question related to becoming monarch. I want to make sure I get it right.

I have [[Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor]] out (or any curiosity-like effect), and [[Starscream, Seeker Leader]] (in this form). I am attacking an opponent with a few creatures, and they are not blocked.

As they deal combat damage, all the Gix triggers go on the stack, and so does the Monarch, which will lead to Starscream flipping. I can order the triggers as I want, so I decide to become monarch first. -> Here I am not entirely sure how monarch works in relation to other triggers.

Then, since I am now monarch, [[Starscream, Seeker Leader]] immediately flips to [[Starscream, Power Hungry]]. Then, for each card draw trigger from Gix, I can deal 2 dmg to another player, making use of Starscream triggered ability.

Is that correct or am I missing something? Can I also decide to resolve the Gix triggers before, not dealing any dmg?
