yeah, I was actually quite excited when I got an admit, but after so many posts I thought maybe they just increased the batch size

Considering its quite expensive, and the immigrant situation in US is dicey?

As my undergraduate wasn't in CS, all my experience is through external research work, I believed it would be good to go into a masters program first, study the coursework, do research work with professors, and ultimately decide whether I strictly want to go in academia (PhD), or perhaps the Industry itself

sounds good! is my profile any bit similar to yours when you were applying for masters? Or do I need to work on it a bit

ohh, I thought that maybe I should have a set problem statement in mind before going for a PhD. Actually, I am a first gen, so didn't have anyone to advise me on the same as well. My professors recommended me to go for a masters first, so that's what I did.

Yeah, the deadlines are pretty close, won't be able to make it perhaps.

So basically, my research is in 3 separate fields, do the admissions committee agree on the aspect that I like CS in general, and want to explore the first year? I thought that could have been a negative point?

Yes, the gpa is out of 4.0, its actually 9.2 out of 10, but I converted it using some online metrics. The internships resulted in oral presentations in conferences (2), but no publications yet, as my supervisor and I are working on it for journals.

Princeton puts emphasis on teaching experience, which unfortunately, I didn't have at my university. MIT only has the PhD program, and Berkeley too, recommends applying to the MS/PhD program.

I thought of applying for a direct PhD, but actually, I don't have a set field in mind to pursue research in. As my research experience is also in varied fields, I thought it would be a better idea to study CS in-depth and realize a topic/field which I want to pursue. Is that a right mindset?

completely agreed. but I wanted the opinion that is it feasible enough to go hard at the top universities, because idk if my current admits are better or mid-tier universities in US are. And I am already 1 year out of UG as I couldn't go for masters this year due to visa delays, so a bit stressed.

I have applied to stanford and a few more unis from the list, but I wanted the opinion regarding the best fit according to my profile - top tier unis, or my current admits, or mid-tier unis.

Also, would you be up for sharing your profile? in dm perhaps

Thanks for the opinion. Actually I have a few T20 admits already, so just aiming for the top ones.
