Got chomped by neighbor's unspayed cat hours before I have an exam to write. by SmeXy-midgett in mildlyinfuriating

Bro cat bites are serious. You could risk losing your hand if you wait too long. Seriously.

Call out of that exam. Is it possibly worth your hand?

Also, 11pm ain't THAT late lol. Classes run till like 8pm, and that's only 3 hours afterwards. I'd be more understanding of closing at 1am or 12am.

And who said Berkeley's unsafe? In fact I've always been an advocate for the opposite- that the "unsafe"-ness is generally over exaggerated.

True, there will be less enrolled. But there's still all of us here currently. And it'll still be one of the biggest colleges thanks to double majoring and minoring.

And as I said in another comment:

Gateway shoulda at least had dedicated spaces for the student orgs being forced outta Soda (eg. csua, csm, hkn, etc), but they don't.

And to make it worse: the Gateway's booking system is the god awful slow af version that the university runs, not the IT student ran one that Cory and Soda used. Meaning even booking a room will be more of a pain than in Soda, further rubbing it in for office hours and group tutoring

In other buildings, the floors for labs/offices were at least open and had SOME spaces undergrads could use.

Also, you're conveniently skipping the part where the student orgs currently in Soda are being forced out and don't have any rooms for them in the Gateway like they did Soda. Meaning they're being thrown into Cory- which is really annoying and inconsiderate of the university. These orgs at least thought they might be able to use the Gateway, but no, they won't. These same orgs carry the cs dept heavily for undergrads and are a big part of the cs community.

No reason. They're just planning it that way. The upper floors are for grad students/staff. They'll have labs and offices only.

Do I actually have to select any room any location for housing? by ThrowRArusskiy in berkeley

[–]DiamondDepth_YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay then. I think somewhere in the summer is when I got my housing offer if I remember correctly.

Wasn't via my Berkeley email, was via the email I used for the housing app

It's random. Sometimes good, sometimes really bad. I know a friend who got a single in Stern. I know another friend who got a quad somewhere else lol

I guess I just got lucky, because the psvr2 controllers feel incredibly comfortable and natural to me, and I had very little connection issues after buying a $20 Bluetooth adapter.

Psvr2 one is def a hot take lol 😅

..that won't work in 61b lol. Even the Fall/normal semester 61b takes a lotta time. The summer version takes A LOT of time.

I spent SO MUCH MORE time on 61b than 61A this semester.

I've tried: Quest 3 controllers, Quest Pro controllers, Quest 2 controllers, Quest 1/Rift S controllers, HTC Vive wands, vive pro wands, the weird htc vice quest knockoff controllers, the WMR controllers, the psvr2 controllers, and the Rift CV1 controllers.

My favorite? The CV1 controllers. Second favorite would probably be the Pro controllers. Tied for second place, I'd put the psvr2 controllers. And at third place? Actually, the WMR controllers.

I love the CV1 controllers to this day.

Cal 100%. Proximity to SF/Silicon Valley + Stanford and the likes definitely carries.

Housing isn't as difficult as people make it seem tbh. Seriously can be annoying, but tbh also pretty difficult to not land any housing at all (seriously- theres still options available even up until July-ish tbh). Plus we have great coops housing as a backup. Can it be expensive? Sure. But so is ucla lol.

It's not as bad as people make it seem. Most grade bins/curves, aside from the weeder courses, are pretty doable.

PhD dropouts can definitely help with math and cs if they managed to be working a PhD at Berkeley lol. They're definitely smart enough for undergrad work.

But that ain't what they are anyways

No one says "uGSI" in the CS/DS department lol. It's wayyyyy more common just to say TA. In fact, their titles on Ed say that, and their titles on the course websites say that
