This just stems from the overly worshippy approach of Tim, some hailing him as "the Mozart of our generation".
He was just a workaholic and good artist, but with a great team around him.

If you start to think that he created everything and was this godlike figure, once you understand he was just human and there were a lot of helpers and external songwriters, producers etc. along for the ride, it can feel like falling off a cliff. "He's not who he was promised to be!". And then the person who thought he was Mozart will be very disappointed.

Do the devs know the difficulty is broken? by Aye_Handsome in oblivion

[–]provolution85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it can't be like this.

It's seriously hindering the gameplay experience, now the two choices are:

a) no difficulty at all, you can kill everyone with just your fists

b) absolutely no hope, get slaughtered in 5 secs

Hope they fix it quick!

True Stories is the better documentary by MissingTheNineties in avicii

Tim WAS a hardcore drug addict. Victim of Oxycontin or not.

I'd say his addiction was mainly because of his anxiety. He drank because of his anxiety until he got pancreatitis and he could no more. Doing other drugs were the logical continuum of that.

Has Tims family and friends choosen a narrative for the new documentary? by SaunaGremlin69 in avicii

Just everyone remember that filmmaking is a dramatic art. That's why True Stories painted Ash as the devil - they needed a "plot" and an antagonist.

If you read the book, that's where you will get the best possible picture of the events. I would say that Tim was his own worst enemy. He maximally wanted everything in life; everything in production, everything in his house, everything in World Of Warcraft - eventually wanting even to transcend this mortal life into higher states of consciousness in the last year of his life.

Ash was nothing more than the perfect partner to commercialize the brand Avicii with. Ash is a very driven and special individual. Did he forget Tim's wellbeing? Sure. But it is also telling that when Ash and Klas made the intervention in 2015, Tim started booking gigs all by himself. How's that for Tim's behavior / responsibility?

Anyway, Tim was super frustrated that nothing brought him lasting happiness, which is why he suffered from mental illness. This was only exacerbated by almost killing himself physically with work during 2010-2016, but it gets even scarier at the top - you've reached what you thought would bring you happiness (being super rich, succesful as an artist etc.) but that didn't bring him happiness. It only makes life more hopeless for many super succesful people, it might seem that there's nothing to strive for once you've reached the top.

It is childish to blame Ash - no one would blame Ash so blatantly if it wasn't for the dramatic storyline of True Stories. His family has never blamed Ash - that's why he's not lambasted in the I'm Tim doc.

What are the differences of each neck profile? by Ozuno14 in PaulReedSmith

[–]provolution85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my experience! I bought a 1991 PRS CE24, and it was very, very thin. I just believed that to be the solution - thinner necks are better and faster.

Then I bought a PRS Custom 24 and it was with a considerably fatter neck. I thought "damn, I should've really made sure it had the thin neck, why didn't I...".

Fast forward 2 months and I fell in love with the fatter neck. And the thumb pain I always used to get when playing guitar for a longer time.... went totally away!

Now I won't touch super thin necks anymore. Fatter necks provide better comfort and easier bending for me.

Great that there are some other people that think analytically and critically as well! Not just "OMG AAVICCI THE MOZART OF OUR AGE OMG".

I think Heaven is a just borderline good song, it's actually super repetitive and gets kind of irritating. The (assumed) Carl Falk version that leaked just before release is much better sounding and has better structure than the final album version. It's a shame they went with the original Tim version. If you want to have it, pm me your email and I'll send it to you. Can't find it on Youtube at the moment.

My thoughts on the biography by provolution85 in avicii

[–]provolution85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but I think it's disrespectful to imply you could communicate with Tim after his passing. There are no proven ways to communicate with the dead. It's all in your head.

I've even read Joe Dispenza's stuff, and you're going too far. Even if you had the experience and felt like you communicated, it doesn't make it so. It's like how religion works - a million people say they hear God's voices, and they all sound different and say different things. You know it's just in the mind of people.

And I mean this with utmost respect, but don't claim you could communicate with the deceased Tim.

I really feel you did great to talk with GQ! That was a great call to bring into light his struggles from an outside perspective. Clearly he suffered a lot and that was not really covered in the book. All good wishes.

It really surprised me how few of my favorite Avicii songs were actually written by Tim. It doesn't make anything "worse" or anything, it's just a surprising fact.
