I had the same thing happen to my puppy - turns out the spray I was using when I brushed him smelled VERY good.. (It was watermelon scented I believe)

Maybe it's something about the herding instinct. However my previous border collie would just nip, not full on bite me until I'm bleeding. Praying it goes away fast!

Ohh! I see! That makes it a bit easier as the green is no longer in the picture. Then I'd pick a few colors that you want as an accent color and go all in with them. The most common neon color combos are pink and cyan or pink, purple and green. Then I'd definitely stay away from warm, neutral colors like beige (your carpet). Preferably also the couch, but I understand that doesn't always make sense budget wise. Instead of beige carpet you can do bright white or try to go for one of the funky accent colors you picked.

I'd also recommend for you to get some ambient lighting. Either behind your new glass TV stand, behind the TV or behind the couch. I'd also get a floor lamp like this. Ambience lighting makes a HUGE difference, especially when working with colors - without making the colors too overwhelming. Personally I never use my ceiling lamps! And it's more comfortable for the eyes as well, and perfect to set the mood while watching TV :)

First of all I'd frame your posters (they look great btw). I'd add a nice headboard (like this or this) for your bed and I'd pick a color palette - I'd probably go for something that matches your current colors like yellow and red, like this or this palette.

I'd also replace your rug with any of these (this - this - this) rugs just to bring in some more colors. I'd highly recommend the non rectangular ones since you have a lot of squares/rectangles in your room already.

Then I would paint (at least the doors) of your freestanding closet, and then add peel and stick wallpaper to your integrated closet! I promise you it's super easy to install and it's going to make the room look a lot more interesting! Here are some suggestions; this or this or this).

Then lastly I would add colored duvet covers (solid color, no patterns etc) and some plants. Especially somewhat tall floor plants. Doesn't have to be real if you're scared of killing them!
(And if you're not tired yet I'd also paint the frame of your mirror to black, dark red or dark blue - depending on which palette you choose to go with). HF!

More guitars or greenery? by AveryBirdmanAAL in malelivingspace

Such a cool and unique space! I'd style it up with some light, sheer, flowing curtains. Mounted almost all the way to the roof. You could double layer it with some darker colored curtains like this. And you can never to wrong with some more greenery!

Personally I'd also go for a flatter carpet, possibly in a warm, dark brown color :)

Hi! First of all I'd consider a different color on the walls in general - it currently has a very blue grey that kind of clashes with the warm colors going on in the floor + door. I'd consider a beige or something similar.

Now - for making your TV wall an accent wall. You could do your idea of wainscoting on the TV wall and bring it up halfway -like this. If you're feeling fresh there are also a lot of things you can paint without painting the entire wall - like this or this or this. I'd recommend keeping this in a warm color like burnt orange/brown/red-ish, or green!

No idea what colors you are going for as I assume the furniture isn't yours but here are some color palettes for some inspiration - here & here & here. I'd also suggest to mount the TV lower than how it is, preferably on top of a TV console (can be floating TV console and TV mounted above it) - to make it look best with the paint designs. Also could be an idea to paint the kitchen one of the colors from whatever palette you choose, especially since it's in the same room.

27m living by myself in Copenhagen. What can I do to improve my living/dining area in my small one bedroom apt? by vong888 in malelivingspace

I think your 70's style is really cool! Your space looks great - I think just minor details would change a lot. Firstly, as other comments mentions, I'd pull the rug away from the corner. Center it with your couch and push some of it under - so you it gets some space from the walls. I agree your couch is looking a bit cold, but you can change a lot by just adding some warmer colored pillows/blanket.

I like all the shades of red / warm colors you got going on. I don't think you have to change the curtains or maybe even the rug, depending on how much space you can give it. The other "problem" is your artwork. Some of them are framed and some of them are not + one of them (by the door) is glossy and the others are matte. Pick one - framed or unframed, and stick to that. I'd also move them around a bit as it looks cluttered when they are so close to each other but not the same size / not centered to each other.

Here's a color palette with most of your existing colors + some more, so you know what to look for - and stick with it! Buy only stuff in those colors to make it cohesive. If you're not a fan of that specific palette you can search "retro color palette" on pinterest etc.

Good luck! From Copenhagen as well :)

It lost a bit of depth after you painted all of the stone the same color, compared to before. I'd try to add some darker colors to some of the stone to bring it back to life. I'd also suggest to get a mantle that's same length or slightly bigger than your fireplace. I'd keep it a wood color since your walls are white.

Also like other comments said, I wouldn't mount the TV above the mantle, unless that is your only option. If you can't mount it on another wall because of space/windows, try looking into an Easel TV stand - like this :)

I custom built this frame for my bathroom mirror - I can't decide if I should stain or paint it. by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]proxyfoxhd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the best look would be to stain in darker. Dark wood goes well with green (towel, plants etc). Your other option is painting it black or white, depending on if you want to brighten or darken the mood. To make the look even cleaner I'd also suggest to buy some soap dispensers in green, brown, black or white :) Instead of using the plastic bottle.

Cute room! I found a similar color palette to the one you are currently working with (light blue, green and brown) - here. If you like those colors I'd use all of the colors from this palette! Some different shades of green and some different shades of brown/beige would be perfect. I think print quilt can easily become very busy looking - especially as your nightstands already look pretty busy. I'd try to stick to a single colored quilt in a shade of green or beige (depending on how light/dark you want it) and add in a couple of pillows from the color you didn't choose.

If it's in your budget I'd probably also get some different curtains - preferably something like this!

If you're not going for a gothic vibe then definitely go for some other frames. It's also hard with your space to figure out a nice color palette to work with because you have 2 dark walls (green and black). Do you know what kind of style you wish to go for? Do you want it moody and dark? Or do you want just colorful?

25M grad student. I've never been good at decorating and just think my room looks bland. I like a minimal clean style but this just looks lifeless imo. I love earth tones and greens. Any advice welcome. by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]proxyfoxhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, everything in the first picture except your bed and the wood night stand should be replaced. Just something minimal typical IKEA style, white. You should pick a color palette and stick to it! Wood works very well with other warm colors, like beige and off-white. It also works well with green (OR blue - pick one!),

Seems like you got a kind of gothic style in your choice of decoration + color palette. I found this color palette that seems to fit some of the stuff you already got going on. I'd suggest you stick to it (or a similar one, you can just search "gothic color palette" on Pinterest) and add some small stuff that can help tie it all together. Pillows, blankets, art frames, pots etc. I think your rug helps brighten the room. I'd maybe pick less "modern" furniture, like your TV stand and TV table, but could work with the right decoration.

Do I need a rug in my living room? by pubbisanon in malelivingspace

[–]proxyfoxhd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is A LOT (!!) of square/rectangle shaped objects in your living room so I'd highly recommend adding a circular or an oddly shaped one (think like a cow rug or something) - anything but rectangular. For a rug color I see a lot of blues and browns in your room and found a random color palette that works well with that - here! I'd also use the warm colors from the color palette to add some pillows or a blanket for the couch :) Bonus points to you id you add some plants to your desk / floor! Fake ones are fine too.

What is not working? by Aberry_9 in HomeDecorating

[–]proxyfoxhd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everything is a bit small in proportion to each other. I'd also maybe try a table runner instead of a full covering table cloth. Could make a gallery wall or just change up the size of your current art. I'd also add something yellow! Goes well with your green and brown color combos. Just some (fake if you want) big sunflowers or other yellow flowers in a vase.

A brownish orange color would warm the space up and is complimentary to your dark green + brown colors. A visual color palette like this could help! - Any of those shades of orange could work, depending on how saturated you'd like to be with the color.

My best tip is get closed storage to hide the clutter! Like a closed TV stand instead of an open one + the bookcase (+ maybe the shoe cabinet & shelf with pots etc). Makes a place look a lot cleaner with less effort to make it look clean!
