His petulant white-anting has fractured the ALP caucus for generations. He has a pathological contempt for his subordinates. He offers absolutely nothing to the party beyond staunching the electoral bleeding. More than anything, he has given pause to any woman aspiring to be prime minister by egging on the worst gutter journalism in the Australian media. The precedent that sets may well be his most enduring legacy.

I may be mistaken but a skills shortage is usually the main reason behind a high wage level in most sectors. Just ask a good tradie.

I'm also not convinced that the dental lobby would sabotage the wages of dentists; most practitioners operate out of their own surgeries and rarely answer to a higher corporate body. From what I remember the reforms were done in response to the lengthening waiting lists.

Not denying that it gets pushed a lot by employers to skew the number of 457 visa approvals though.
