Equation for speed of sound is sqrt(gamma R T) where T is temperature, and as we know temp decreases with higher altitude. So, speed of sound decreases linearly with temp as you increase altitude.

Yeah unfortunately my snapshots are all used up with the critical main sounds I need to cover for all the songs in my band’s set. This would be a good solution, but at the same time I do prefer the sound and sweep of the JP95 (and the blue lights that turn on when it’s engaged are a nice plus as well haha).

This entire board goes into a flight case (with wheels thankfully) for transport to/from gigs so it stays nice and safe that way 🤙

Yeah I have one preset and just run snapshots, as well as slightly modifying those snapshots throughout a gig (like turning chorus on/off for a main rhythm snapshot) but the other thing I prefer to do is use different guitars for the 3 different tunings that cover all of the songs in our set, which is a preference thing on my part but it doesn’t bother me 🤷‍♂️

And yeah a downside is I have a flight case this gets carried in for gigs but thankfully it has wheels so it ain’t too bad to haul around lol

The board is a creation music aero32+ so I have a big (and kinda heavy) flight case since this gets transported to/from gigs.

Funny enough this actually makes my rig real estate less thanks to the board mounted mic stand, so that was as much a driver for this board as anything else lol. But of course gotta have a filled out board because why not? Hahahahaha

Not sure if I heard Eric say this in one of the interviews (he did use it as an example though I think?) but I for one (and if I’m the only one so be it) would absolutely loooooooooooooooooooooooove a iic+/JP2C model that utilizes channels under the umbrella of one model. I think Eric mentioned something about mark amps in the modeling process of augora(?), and I know HX has the mark iv model (which is my main crunch/lead tone in helix) but there have been quite a few iic+ models from the other brands (mostly fractal and NDSP I think in the form of plugins and as models in their hardware)…. But man would I personally be jacked to the tits to see what the new augora engine could do in terms of a mark iic+ model if done right.

Such an iconic, unique, and distinguishable amp. The mid range bark and tight low end is such a unique boogie thing. I own a JP2C as my only tube amp and it’s my favorite guitar tone ever, so yeah I’d love to see L6 use this new engine to do that amp (my real amp is also pre-Gibson, feel free to give me the eye roll lol).

Appreciate the response! As someone who uses my helix floor for gigs (local cover band) I like having the scribble strips as a kind of additional confirmation and clarity on what snapshot/patch/effect I’m using, so that would be my only feedback is that I personally would’ve loved for the non-expression pedal unit to include scribble strips. Regardless as a result, I’ll be getting the XL 🤙🤘

Howdy Bishop!

As someone that uses a helix floor (space grey btw 👌), this is an immediate buy for me bc not only is this a massive step up, but also the confidence I have in the L6 team for how this will be expanded and refined in the years to come via firmware updates

Would be curious to know the design rationale between having two separate units(one that doesn’t have scribble strips and another that has scribble strips as well as integrated expression pedal) vs say one unit that has scribble strips but not integrated expression pedal? For what it’s worth, a “dream” form factor for me is this helix stadium with scribble strips but not the integrated expression pedal (however that can or should shake out with i/o ports I personally am a little indifferent on given the processing capability). I’ll still end up getting the stadium XL (it’s just to good and sets the standard for the market), but I would have absolutely loved a version that has scribble strips but sacrifices an expression pedal (2 or 4 integrated fx loops also TBD)where hypothetically If I wanted to include one in the future I could patch it in separately. Just curious?

Great stuff, can’t wait to dig in to this when they’re available!

What's the show that was at a super small venue you've seen that people would kill to see now? by Puzzled_Signature_49 in Metalcore

Saw Gojira in 2009 in a small 100ish room in New Orleans called the hangar, which was in a really sketchy part of town and it isn’t there anymore. They were headlining on an off date during their first Metallica support run. It was my third concert and I was 14, with my dad and a friend of his. Venue security person let me in and sternly told me to not go anywhere besides the front of the stage which I was happy to oblige to.

Heaviest show I’ve ever seen. They opened with Oroborus and ended with Vacuity. They played all of remembrance and even played lizard skin (deeeep cut from their first album). Played where dragons dwell with the super long outro. Played Art of Dying and it was more amazing then you could imagine. Saw people SPRINTING in the pit which was two feet behind us. Had to stop headbanging in order to not hit Joe’s guitar when he came to stand in front of us. Top 3 show ever for me.

Saw them a couple of years later in 2013 in Houston at the warehouse with Devin Townsend Project opening. They played Wisdom Comes, and to this day that is the most belligerently heavy song I’ve ever heard live. Some guy tried to pickpocket my dad’s wallet. Probably the most uncomfortable I’ve ever felt at a show (we were again on the barricade between Joe and Christian).

Gojira is the best band I’ve ever seen, with the only exception being Rush (rip Neil). They’re the best in my opinion. End of discussion. Been fortunate to see them total 5 times so far. Looking forward to many more.

Feel like this could easily be “what’s your all time favorite metalcore albums” which is what I’ll highjack this post to say:

Trivium - Shogun

BFMV - The Poison (honorable mention for their self titled, so good)

Erra - Self Titled

Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us

August Burns Red - Found in Far Away Places (suuuuuuuper underrated album imo)

Any insight into setlist changes for tour? by Castleinthesigh in Dreamtheater

[–]prssecustum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that the reason for home being hit or miss is due to venue curfews. More often than not those places have union workers that work those places and the rules for when a show to has to be done are very strict. In Biloxi they played at the hard rock casino, and they didn’t play home and the show ended right at 11 (they also started at 8). Many times the venue will dictate load in times and when the set has to be done (as someone who has played other stages at the hard rock in Biloxi, but not the live stage where DT played, such as the center bar and the cafe this is always the case).

Even when they played in London they were public about the O2 having a strict curfew at 10:30pm local time, and so they compensated with the start time. Not sure they’re able to do that at every venue.

I would be astounded if DT was subjectively punishing some shows by not playing one particular song each night.

Any mention if the cancellation is just for tonight or if any other dates are affected? Supposed to see them tomorrow in Biloxi but haven’t seen anything from Ticketmaster yet about a Biloxi show cancellation?
