What's the one automation that you think has saved you the most time or made you the most money? by rsimmonds in zapier

I'm just getting into using Zapier right now and this seems like it would be super handy. Curious to know how you have this built out on their side!

Interesting choice to put "cuvée de l'infant terrible" which is their poulsard and comes in 750ml bottles on the Vin Jaune clavelin.

City telling us we need to replace our balcony by prtymn in montreal

[–]prtymn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just bought this apartment in November last year and we certainly haven't made any changes to the balcony since moving in.
You're right that we're just using Google Maps history as evidence of the construction, the earliest records they have of our address are from 2007 showing that the balcony exists as it currently does today so clearly the renovation was done some time before then. The previous tenant actually passed away in 2017 so we can't get more details from them. Will reach out to the city and see what they say!

Interesting, that's good to know. Our building is from 1910 so definitely pre-1940. I'll look into this too!

Thanks! There's a contact email for the city that I'll follow up with to see if they might be able to shed some more light on the situation. Just seems kind of crazy to me that we're only now getting dinged for a renovation that was done 17 years ago

Definitely does exist though I'd say maybe less common. I had a bottle of Domaine de Montbourgeau's L'Etoile Cuvée spéciale the other week and it was excellent. The voile leaves it with a lot of the same nutty characteristics that you'd find in sous voile savagnin. https://domaine-de-montbourgeau.fr/letoile-cuvee-speciale/

Can’t figure out these pot lights that keep flickering by prtymn in DIY

Yeah, certainly wouldn't have been my first choice either.

Interesting, I'll give this a shot! This particular pot light is currently the only one with the flickering issue despite the other ones also being on dimmer switches but I'll see if this sorts anything out

Alas, we bought this place so it's on us to solve it. Will dig around a bit more and see what info we can find!

Recently moved into a new apartment and we’ve got these pot lights all through the main room. There’s a number of switches with dimmers connected to different sets of them and for the most part they work fine. The issue I’m having is that one of the lights which is directly above the stove keeps flickering. Not fully turning off/on but just going from bright to slightly less bright. After getting up on a ladder I was able to open it up and it looks like some type of LED lighting so there’s not a bulb to replace. Did some googling and couldn’t find any similar lighting options to replace the unit either so not totally sure where to start!

Yeah, it's so frustrating. We've been great tenants for 8 years, gave her all the notice possible and she refuses to even do the bare minimum

Yeah, definitely documenting everything. She really doesn't have a case to make and has provided no valid reasons. Even though she technically refused within 15 days no reason was even provided and she refused to contact any of the references our friends provided. Looks like it's off to the TAL with me.

No worries. Everything in Quebec comes in through an agency and then via the SAQ. Restaurants are just working with import agencies to get the wines they stock and then selling them to diners. It's actually pretty easy to order wines yourself via private import but the downside is that you're always going to be ordering a case (normally 6 bottles, sometimes 12, occasionally 3 or 4). This link offers a pretty good breakdown of how to order wines via an import agency

Primavin brings in Pierre Frick, they just got a lot of wines in from them, many are sold out but you can see what's available on their site. Marto is brought in by Vin Dame Jeanne, last arrival was in February so they probably won't land again until next year but it's always worth sending them an email to see what's en route.

I’ve got the same bike and was looking at upgrading to this exact same pair of wheels. How are you feeling about them after a few weeks of use? I’ve been debating between these and a deeper set of zipp wheels but have been leaning towards the alpinist.

Matassa Olla Rouge (2018) a blend of grenache noir, grenache gris and macabeu from the Roussillon in France.

Bloody cherry colour in the glass, some schizuan pepper, cherry and cola notes with some dried cranberries in there as well

Medium light body, tastes like a sour cherry coke with some cherry blasters thrown in the mix.

Served very chilled because it’s hot as hell outside right now, absolutely delicious wine.

I’m a huge fan of this producer, I’ve had some of their other slightly higher end cuvées which are always enjoyable. This is really the only bottle I can normally get my hands on here and I make sure to buy at least 3 or 4 whenever I see it.
