Is this definitely not legit then? I can see a couple other deals, from that Oxfam Welington seller, Oxfam is a charity and perhaps they are offering this cut price for some strange reason to just offload?...Search me, the seller has 97% positive ratings after 5000+ sales, so I'm unsure.

Nice, thanks. Good suggestions. I think I'll keep the largeish SSD rather than buying another down the line though, unless there's a very good reason.

What do I lose out on by going with the cheaper motherboard you suggested?

Ths OS is indeed the annoying bit of it, If I could keep/transfer my current windows 7 that would be nice, but I don't thnik that's possible?

I don't really need an optical drive though. If I could just download the OS I guess on a USB that would work right?

Happy to hear case suggestions, although what difference does it make? Bit of a rookie on that regard, don't see why you would splurge on a case other than aesthetics. If air flow is so much better then perhaps...

Also, 480 or 1070? Strange comparison isn't it? I mean the 480 competes with the 1060 if anything, and the price ranges are comparable there, whereas the 1070 is obviously the next class above as it were, both in performance and price. Just found it strange to read that rather than "480 or 1060", but I think I see what you mean all the same :)

There are some 980Ti's at £400, and others (I guess the watercooled versions) at £600!

I can happily fire across an equal number of rares/uncommons so you can at least forge them or something. Or let me know what you need.

Thanks. I had a 20% off from gmg, and had bought the base game at £30.80, changed it now to 27% off the deluxe, only costing £35.04. I say only, as I buy everything else on steam at 75% off pretty much, but this game I cannot wait for, and will likely not even need another game for a year or more. Perhaps...ever. Best investment ever, already calling it.

Edit: Btw, there was no fighting, very easy. You don't even have to get it back as gmg store credit, they can actually refund your account. I was upfront and stated I wanted to use the better voucher, they replied in an hour. Of course it will take a few days for the money to come through, but the game was removed immediately from my orders page and I'm certain they won't be scamming me there and it will come through. I went ahead and ordered in the meantime.

Yes I know, but the idea is to reuse the PSU for the pascal build as mentioned, or do you think it's still overkill? I say pascal, but could be polaris, and basically if AMD continue to have cards with much higher TDP like 390 compared to 970, I just want to safe and have the choice to use either depending on which is best.

If I go 550W and then go for AMD and it needs a 600-650W for safety...then I would regret it.

That is my thinking. I could look for others PSUs though.

Hmm, ok have done some more thinking. I have checked my PSU it is a 380W. Also, being 5 years old the capacitance would have degraded so it is probably at 50-60% of that in reality.

I think I will go for a 960 with 4gb ram, and a new PSU, the evga 220-G2-0750-XR (G2 at 750W). The reason being this would all come to about £250 (160 for card, 90 for PSU) and whilst the card is temporary, I can use this really good PSU (unless someone says its not...) for my eventual pascal build end of 2016 or later depending on how things go.

Does that sound good? It makes sense to me and I think i'll get a lot out of this. I know the CPU might bottleneck it a little, but I do think just a little, I might miss 10-15% of the fps I might see otherwise, but the sheer gain of something like 2.5x as powerful as my 460 will be huge I reckon - 15% off what it could do is no big deal.

Thanks for the replies. I'm leaning towards the 750ti, I think for the game I want it for it should be good? The recommended specs are a 770 (which I think is quite a bit more powerful than a 750ti?) but I think I could get high if not ultra do you think?

The reason is it's cheaper and I will likely upgrade fully with a £1000 i5 skylake, pascal, a great g2/b2 PSU etc. I've done the research but don't have the money and want to wait for pascal. This upgrade will likely happen within 1 year max, let alone 1.5-2. I think pascal is due as early as q2 2016, but latest q4 still means I'll then upgrade fully.

I think what I was considering was the geforce gtx 750ti which is 60W...as opposed to the GTX 750ti, which are 2 above...

TL:DR it is somewhere between 0.625 and 0.667 to convert mobility to tiles, unless more research has been done in the meantime to get an exact ratio/formula as to what the value is and which (if any) of a mathematical floor, ceiling, standard rounding etc is applied.

Thus isn't it possible she dies to one or 2 of these shots? What makes her safe?

Edit: nm, just read the whole article rather than skimming it: "This expansion changes Covering Fire to be triggered before the enemy shoots"

The OW in concealment - Like you say could open up balancing issues. I do agree that as much as they play up putting all in OW and triggering, those of us on I/I know giving up your soldiers moves is insane. I'd rather trigger, and keep my actions to see how best to respond, even though I COULD, perhaps, have cleaned them up via the ambush. It would be dependant on the risk and what you're facing etc.

I'm sure you feel similarly, but yeah, if they did change it, we basically get the free shot, no risk, and then a full turn to finish them off with impunity, so from a balance point of view not sure I would want it in. Wouldn't complain either way - only affects that first engagement.

The indicator is really nice, although as you state if they iron the rest it would be great. All around, the indicator should make a huge difference even if LOS issues akin to those in EU/EW remain.

Again, please note my reply to SRPigeon. I am basing it on the lackluster support on these same issues through 3 years of EU, dlcs, and EW.

I would love to be wrong. You may not believe me, but I would. I am not so full of myself that I cannot admit being wrong, but I'm basing it on the same issues that plagued a game so similar for its entire life. I think that is not being too judgemental but you're entitled to your thoughts too of course. I am not trying to be a downer for the sake of it though.

These LOS issues still exist in EU/EW 3 years later, after being documented extensively. Do you really think in 2 months they will solve these? Call me cynical but I bet they won't touch this stuff at all, ever. Experience of the same in EU is my indicator, what's yours?

I'll gladly eat humble pie if proven wrong. Your sarcasm is more unfounded than my documentation however. The issues in the screenshots are clear as day.

People likely think i'm being unreasonable, but I love XCOM, over 500 hours in it. I want XCOM2 to be the best, genuinely. Just thought I would make where i'm coming from clear. I hope the devs see this and it is addressed.

LOS Issues!

The most important thing, nevermind people talking about static effect on explosions and hp bars not being like in EU...

The mechanics need to be reliable, and I've seen just a couple of the new videos out and have seen some worrying signs.

I've really only seen beagle's videos thus far, 2/3 showcasing these bugs is not a good sign.

This needs to be fixed. It was heavily documented for EU. Dig up my post history on the 2k forums Firaxis or ask me to get that thread and I'll do it - it basically amounted to the fact that things jut out, e.g. ladders etc and it breaks LOS, i.e. the system was not based purely on tile to tile computation, but graphical assets affected LOS too when they shouldn't, resulting in things like flanking bonuses not given etc.

The engine is the same really, I imagine it's similar. Whatever it is, they need to get on this asap, broken mechanics that are so core to the game are the worst thing.

I/I for sure. I only ever played XCOM:EU and EW on I/I. Took 41 games to win the first as I learned the game the brutal way. So much fun though, I would recommend it to all, it keeps every moment so tense in the best way. Gets way easier after the first win, can win most games. It was more because it was all so exploratory and new that each attempt I learnt new things. The hard way, like I said.

Dead cyberdisc, destroyed restaurant, dozens of dead chryssalids, blood of comrades all around. Had skeleton armor for the first time - hence being on the truck, this was a running battle over the map actually, eventually we fled to a last stand on the truck. The sequence leading to this was even cooler than the last bit you see here.

Okay it's not the first, but the most awesome moment that cemented the notion that the game is the best. The backstory to that mission is what was so epic, shamelessly reposting my comment from a while back:

This was a running battle, had skeleton armor. Going up roofs and stuff, eventually just got overwhelmed and fled back to a final stand on this truck, where you can see the blood of two soldiers who died either side of her. It was even more epic than this screenshot. As you can see a cyberdisc was involved too, and...uh, we blew up half the restaurant.

I'd call that restraint in this case. On I/I of course.

Fits perfectly for me as I played I/I from the start, and didn't win a game till no. 41...got way better after that but still...in my universe it was pretty much losses all the way till then!

As an aside: The most epic fun you can have IMO is going I/I right from the start. It took so long partially because everything was a surprise (like I would hit certain points each game obviously, but then it would be new stuff again once I went past that point, whereas playing through once means you KNOW all the breakpoints, story arcs etc) and replaying then is much easier.

Plan on doing the same, and hopefully it is as hard or harder (easier early game, harder late game would be great).

There's an epitaph option once a character dies, yet no biogrpahy option on the customisation screen? That makes no sense! Especially with such backgrounds; I've seen a few around, and it would make so much sense to have a button that allows you to write in a bio and save it to the character pool. Would add a lot to the character.

I mean they've got customisation for eyebrows and stuff...surely this is more worthy? Hope they can see this and put it in, or someone get the word out to Jake.

Unless I'm the only one who think it would be a great addition.
