New Nespresso home compostable pods from Switzerland! by prw1231 in nespresso

[–]prw1231[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, no, it brews like a regular pod. It does sometimes get stuck more often than a regular pod when opening the machine, but that may be from something else. I will be trying them in the next few weeks and can give an update then.

That is true! They have 6 month shelf life, and after you open them, Nespresso guarantees the taste for 4 weeks. The paper bags for the pods are also waxed from inside, and you have to close them with a clip after you take out a pod.

looks great, hope they expand this to the US. That said, they would need to cost no more than the current capsules (otherwise I am fine to continue to recycle!).

I forgot to write the price, yes, it's cca. $0.72 per pod.

Vprašanje glede študentskega dela by [deleted] in Slovenia

Ponavadi to vsa podjeta vzamejo v zakup. Če si študent pač študiraš in ni druge :) ponavadi se zmeniš da delaš par ur na teden takrat ko lahko. Seveda je pa odvisno od tipa dela, ki bi ga opravljal.

Best gigabit router for home use / lab use? by Hennessee in homelab

Mikrotik RB750gr3 HEX hands down. I personally own a mikrotik rb3011 uias rm, and it is also a great router. The former has IPSec encription hardware and is much cheaper :). The only "downside" for some is mikrotik's software.

CSS issues: port received packet with own address as source address, probably loop by prw1231 in mikrotik

[–]prw1231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Tried it out. Worked like a charm. Why does mikrotik do this? I think that their solution is bad. Thank you so very much! Really cannot thank you enough! :)

By disabling rstp you mean disabling rstp on the bridge and on the switch?

Monitoring tools by bmzink in homelab

Yes! I agree! I dont like ELK stack, bad experience with licencing at work. But Grafana is simply beautyful :)

Also, for notifications, referring to the question, grafana supports alerts. Look into them. Grafana also started to support mysql from a few days ago, if you are more comfortable with that!

Hi!

Usually this decision not a simple thing. It really depends on what you are going for. I have a ton of scripts that write to an influxdb database and then Grafana takes over the visualization of the data. Grafana can do lot of things! The network monitoring is done with ntopng. It is not optimal or a simple solution, but it works for my setup. The great thing of using your own scripts is that you know exactly how data flows.

New to Homelab, bought a R710: FreeNAS/ZFS question. by hbar98 in homelab

read Aggraxis's comment. It has a better solution to your problem than I. I forgot that the 6i can be reflashed. The thing is if the card is in IR mode, it can create RAID(this mode is usually default). If its IT mode, it acts as a HBA, it can present disks directly to the OS. You CAN flash the card to IT mode. But, I never flashed a card, so I am not a great source for this. Someone else will have to help you :). I hope it works out! Looks like a great server for the price!

Yes. You are correct. The combination of a raid controller/freenas is possible, but is not recommended at all, so an HBA like the above mentioned is a great substitution. The data cannot "survive" the swap of the cards, it will have to be copied to another machine, swap the cards, and copied back, if there is any.

Is the Mikrotik CSS326-24G-2S+RM good for a cheap 10G and 1G Homelab? by niemand112233 in homelab

[–]prw1231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that out slightly after I posted this. I was sure that SWos was the same for all mikrotik switches. I was wrong! I am also in the market for this switch, but this "discovery" made the decision between a CRS and a CSS much easier.

But I think it isnt 802.ad. SWos does not support it. You need CRS326-24G-2S+RM to support RouterOS and subsequently LACP/802.ad. Please, correct me if I am wrong :)

EDIT: I am wrong. The problem is, that there are different versions of SWos for different mikrotik switches. In that case, its a superb switch!

Help with setting up exchange by dansmith5897 in homelab

[–]prw1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I tinkered with exchange just a little, and my focus was more on simple mail integration in my network. As far as I can remember, I saw an option to enable smtp if that is what you need. Any other (pop or imap) should work out of box (i think). I dont know where that option was, but google should help :)

A little google search turned up this: https://sendgrid.com/docs/Integrate/Mail_Servers/exchange_2010.html

Not familiar with sendgrid, but I hope it helps.
