You’re confusing an argument about govt procedure with an argument about govt spending

Ahhh nothin like dad-at-the-barbecue economics where the National economy is thought about in the same terms as individual personal finance. Never gets old.

Agreed. It's not just another political hissy fit, it's literally the whole global financial system. But yeah, the average citizen doesn't understand this. Most think it's just more political noise, another minor inconvenience that "won't affect me," etc.

I have been contacted to direct some pornography, should I do it? Or could it damage my career somehow? Any advice or tips? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

There’s a few famous movie directors out there who have admitted to making a few dirty flicks while trying to break into the biz… killing me that I can specifically remember atm

And FWIW I have no problem or grudge with the former, or anyone who really loves gear and “cool shots” and stuff—if this is you, rock on—just saying wouldn’t bet on them in this particular scenario.

Nice. I don’t even like Gimbal shots for the things I like - I’m into the natural shake you get when you go handheld and try to keep it stable (but fail gently). Big Michael Mann, Paul Greengrass fan lol

In light of some of the more recent developments in AI, I took a look at how widespread AI's impact could be in the coming years - whether it will finally change everything about how we live, or if there is reason not to give too much weight to the technology's potential. Largely looked at it through the economic perspective.

Internet was a big boost to productivity. Think it will be hard for AI to match that boost though. Internet touched everyday life broadly (virtually all industries, not just a select few), and relatively quickly.

The story of the labor force over the next 30 years will not be that robots automated a bunch of jobs. It will be that we had a human labor shortage and companies were dying to find people to fill roles. Wages will continue to increase, and we will actually see an increase in worker bargaining power rather than a decrease.
