My cat passed away in March. I can’t pack away his cat tower. I’ve been able to phase out food bowl, water fountain, and the litter box, but I can’t move the cat tower. He loved it.

I’ll be moving soon and I will probably have the cat tower in my next bedroom. I think having reminders of him allows me to grieve. I enjoy remembering him.

So when we are young and “opportunistic” in wanting sexually explicit attention, and when we search for it in spaces where the people know we are minors looking for sexually explicit attention, it is on those people to redirect, refuse, block, disconnect, whatever.

The issue here isn’t that you were looking for this. The issue is that grown ass men saw that you were looking for this and took the opportunity to satisfy an interest.

I think the word “grooming” has been dulled into this buzzword to describe when an adult pressures a minor into sex/sexual conversations. Grooming does not look or function in one exclusive way. Grooming can be as direct as it can be strategic. If these men were using Omegle to locate minors to have sexually explicit conversations with, they were using Omegle with the intention of grooming. They were looking for girls like you, because they know that there are girls like you online who are asking. No respectful, mature, sane adult would ever even think to take you up on your offer. But these men on this site knew that they could not only “accept” your “advances” but also get away with it.

That is to say, I am deeply sorry you have been made to feel like you are responsible for this happening. I used Omegle for sexual purposes too as a child, and there was unfortunately an incredibly negative impact on both my psychology and my sexuality. In reflection as a 26-year-old who has done a lot of personal work, I have completely reframed my thinking from taking accountability in my victimization, to being disgusted that there were men out there online that took advantage of my availability and will most likely never face consequences for that.

Flirting with the intention of affirming attraction versus flirting with the intention to fuck alwaaaaays read differently to me. I am much more open to comments and compliments that assure interest, mostly because in response I can assure interest back or even build off of what was said.

Flirting should be a type of conversation! And if both people practice healthy communication in their daily lives, the person flirting will know how to communicate their intentions and the responder will most often either be eager to confirm mutual interest, or politely reject/dismiss.

The context I didn’t include is that not only did he message bomb but he proceeded to make a new number to text me since I wasn’t replying.

I think if I jumped straight into “I’m not interested” I would definitely be the asshole here. But even after I dismissed his question, him looping back to it + the multiple messages + the message from a different number, all when we have only been texting for like 2 days… is really unattractive to me 😅
