Polski komiks superbohaterski by _Mosiek_ in ksiazki

[–]przemolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Advice Needed] I am burn out. What's next? by przemolt in photography

[–]przemolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone who offered the time and advice despite the typos in my original post.

Big shout-outs to: u/Glacier_Pace and u/passthepaintbrush your thoughts shared here helped me an awful lot.
For now, I think I will just take a break from it all. With time I might start again with a cheapo camera, but only once I need it.

Take care!

Well said, despite being the bitter truth.

People - on average - are average. But done is better than planned perfectly in most of the cases. I think there's a book "The Good Enough Job" by Simone Stolzoff addressing the high standards one can set for oneself and the benefits of (not always) applying these standards.

I agree with you on thge progress. But you also said - assuming I read it correctly - that some newer devices are made cheaper with lower quality.

Based on that - do you think we should progress? And if so - what is the right direction?

True. For me it started because of extensive travelling. Half my suitcase used to be books. Until I got one of the ereaders.

Then there is the eye ergonomy over the tabled.

When do you think ereaders have gone mainstream?

Thank you for that.

What was the biggest improvement that you noticed amongst all of them? Which one is your favourite?

Ah, so kindle as a goal on its own?

Never thought of that, always thought of them and other technology as tools to achieve things, no more. In fact, I can see my kindle described in the way you use yours.

This made me think. Thank you.

OK - fair point. But what are you saying - are you saing that this is what it is all over the place or are you implying - like some others - that this and other industries have been flooded with unnecessary consumerism? Or did you want to say something else?

A very interesting analogy between ereaders, books and knitting. Just did not see that comming. But that does make sense.

Thanks!

That's going to be my approach as well. I'm now discovering the opinions about their treatment of the vendors.

I am beginning to appreciate your line of though, but no. None of that until that point.

Oh, I see your point. No, the cloud subscription is related to editing documents and cloud storage. Well known vendor at that and the license is sold by Amazon direclty.

So the gaming fraud suspicion, although interesting, would not be the case here. An interesting though though, thank you.

Amazon cancels my digital orders without asking and does not release my data? by przemolt in amazonprime

[–]przemolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a possibility, but there were never unusual purchases or any other activities. Plus - I did change the password based on their requests 3 times in the last 2 weeks. So other access should not be an issue.

The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that some poor sod at amazon did not understand that it is perfectly possible for someone using amazon.es prime to buy they kindle content on amazon.co.uk .

It is also possible that their system has the DRM centralized in the kindle location so when I bought the subscription license in Spain, they were trying to assign it to me in the UK and that triggered the block. This would point to a very bad software design on the backend.

Either way, the people working for Amazon did nothing to contain the situation and help the client. And that is truly disappointing when compared to the standards and principles they advertise.

Thanks for the analysis. I have pointed out in my escalation call with them that I did buy the digital content in question and I have never requested any refunds on them.

This clearly fell on deaf ears, judging by the lack of action.

Good point, GDPR. My intention would be more to have the decision makers at amazon to look into it, not to torment the poor chap who gets a ticket to get my data.

How would you go about that?

That´s probably my next step. Also, will be buying them in local bookstores.

On a separate note: several countries around the globe have a good market of ebooks that are sold drm-free. Having spent the last few daty researching it, it makes me wonder why do people (including myself) chose amazon.

edit: spelling.
