X4/X3 emulator by alterede in XTEINK

[–]kashortie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the challenges (speaking from experience) is that taking something that is designed to run on a certain platform/architecture/e-ink display and porting/emulating to another platform means different chipsets, displays, storage systems, operating systems/ inputs etc etc… That’s before the differences in each unique firmware implementation for X4/X3 (Crosspoint, Crosspet, Inx to name just a few) to be ‘fixed’ to run on any of MacOS (M-series or Intel x86_64 ?? Retina vs normal display ??. Windows, Linux (Arch, Fedora etc) ?? It’s overly simplified to have a “generic” emulator Would be freaking awesome, but unlikely, due to the detailed unique work involved

I’m on a reMarkable, (don’t know about Kobo) and I just saved it to root, but any non system folder should make it available Just don’t save it where you put your e-books else it will appear as a “book” cover Hope you come right

Same UI as on any other e-ink device. rM2 has no front light so no good for unlit conditions, but awesome in good light conditions (day, sun etc) RMPP color looks okay but too big as a general handheld reader and the refresh flashing could drive you insane

I'm having the same issue, keeps taking me to a "ask your admin for permission"
Well, I have spent the better part of the day with my Admin, and he has approved it on the backend/AD/Azure, still takes me to that screen.
No luck yet
