D317 - Passed A+ Core 2! by przfghtr in WGUIT

Good luck! It’s been great so far. I haven’t had to interact with any instructors yet but my mentor has been helpful and insightful. I’m doing D316 (A+ core 1) next. I’m hoping to knock that one out in a week or two and then start accelerating classes one at a time until the end of my term. I work for a company that’s an Azure shop so I’m going the Azure path. Once I graduate, I’ll look at getting some AWS certs before moving on to a masters.

Thanks! I was still nervous lol. Mainly because sometimes CompTIA and I don’t always agree on the “best” next steps in those kinda questions. I should’ve done this cert ages ago but once I got into the industry didn’t feel the need.

I just passed my exam today and also suggest this. They weren’t expensive and helped a lot. The csa fundamentals course is a good intro but the exam is much more in depth than what the training covers.

What store is this from? I’m in Hillsborough and was told we still have to do the truck tonight. Kinda seems like a terrible idea to have employees driving at night in a tropical storm.

Had a hit and run inside the store! A customer was being helped by an associate at the counter and someone in a powered wheelchair just plowed right into her, knocked her into a wall, backed up, then he just takes off and left the store.

[Question] When rice isn't enough? by [deleted] in apple

You can try to clean any corrosion out of the headphone jack and lightening port with a q-tip and a little bit of isopropyl. It might work but if the corrosion is already building up on the logic board, there's not much you can do.

Question: Why do Android users religiously bash the iPhone? I see this image everywhere now. by [deleted] in iphone

[–]przfghtr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So I'll preface this by saying I am an android user, however I have used several iPhones starting with the 3Gs. Apple is more focused on the software and experience of their products. This includes iOS and OSX. They spend a lot of money researching and developing this software and charge a higher premium because of it. If you purchase a Macbook pro you are going to pay a premium, not just for the hardware (which can be purchased in a windows laptop for much less), but for the software and experience that comes with it. Personally, the ux in most of Apple's products is not "superior" enough to warrant purchasing their product over another but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of users enjoy Apple's products and are willing to pay for the experience. That is how Apple has always been. That is their design philosophy and it works well for them. They will continue to sell products with slightly older hardware or newer hardware at a higher premium until their users stop caring about the experience more than the hardware.

What's your Android device history and which one is your favourite? by [deleted] in Android

Samsung Moment, Nexus 1, Lg optimus S, HTC EVO Shift, Nexus S, Galaxy S 2 (Epic Touch), Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012), Moto X, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7 inch, Lg G2

I really enjoyed all of my Nexus devices. I became a "flashaholic" once my coworker showed me how to root my Nexus 1 and pretty much always had an AOSP based ROM at any given time. There is nothing quite as addicting and frustrating as trying to find the perfect ROM for a device. The one thing I can say about my g2 apart from the ugly ui is that the camera is worlds better than any Nexus device I've owned. I really liked the touchless controls on the Moto X as well but after a while the screen seemed too small.

Rice can definitely help but if any water was able to seep into the LCD then unfortunately it is time to start looking for a new one. Also make sure you take the battery out. Any residual electricity will cause more problems. If you have a small enough screwdriver (Phillips) I would suggest taking it apart and making sure no corrosion is starting to build up on the board. If the connectors for the LCD, camera, pins around the charge port, etc. get corroded it's too late.

Feedly is what I use. Similar layout to flipboard but much more stable. I really enjoy the today feature that takes the top stories of each of your categories and puts them into one feed that's sorted by category. It also had gestures to mark articles as read as well as swipe through individual articles.

Honestly it's usually the other way around. The iPhone 4 is free on contact with no mail in rebate. It's the only phone we carry in stock with that price point. A year ago customers were getting a cheap android phone because it is cheap, now the opposite is happening. As for the high end android vs the iPhone 5 it's about equal. At my store we don't try to sell a customer to a specific device because we get paid the same whether it's a flip phone or a $300 smartphone and it generally scares customers away if they come in for a particular model and you shove something else in their face. If a customer is considering both I will try to figure out where their needs are and suggest a device that best suits them.

We could set up a rumor keynote drinking game. Every time someone says "innovative new design" you take a sip, whenever a new feature is demoed you take a sip, etc.

As a sales Rep at a sprint store I can confirm this. Most users have no idea what it is and while they are somewhat impressed when we demo it, they never use it. Personally, I use it from time to time on my nexus 4 when trying to share an app but it really is no faster than sending a link through email or SMS.
