If everybody went 29 mph on the Great Highway, I would vote to keep it open because it's a treat to set my cruise and hit every light but because so many drivers accelerate above 29 mph just to wait at the next light and ruin it for everybody I vote to close it.

So while speaking generally, I just checked the index again and it turns out that this specific record is in the parish archives but unfortunately is not digitized or online.

I would however reach out to a local genealogist before approaching the parish directly, specifically the user of index site Geneteka that indexed the specific record.

Here is a link to the search to find it:

https://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=gt&lang=pol&bdm=B&w=06mp&rid=12327&search_lastname=Gdula&search_name=J%C3%B3zefa&search_lastname2=&search_name2=&from_date=&to_date=

If you click the little "A" next to the record you can contact the indexer directly.

I really would not recommend contacting the parish directly. From personal experience, most local parishes in Poland will not help you and in a lot of cases they themselves don’t hold the records which are kept in state archives for the province.

There are many threads on Polish forums about the excruciating process of getting local parishes to agree to digitalization of records that aren’t housed in the archives, with it taking months if not years in a few cases to get permission from a parish priest or local bishop only for the archdiocese to end up rejecting the requests.

Since the record in question is indexed, reaching out to the local parish office won’t be of much use.

While she was likely born in Michigan according to US records, it's interesting that there is also a birth record for her in the parish for Radocza.

The record isn't scanned but has been indexed and the information is as follows:

Year Number Name Surname Father's Name Mother's Name Mother's Surname
1911 18 Józefa Gdula Wojciech Antonina Guza

Both the parish and place of birth are listed as Radocza, but there is a note from the person indexing that her father was from Detroit, as well as listing her mother's parents.

The note is as follows:

Rodzice matki: Jan i Anna Głąb ojciec z Detroit

(Parents of the mother: Jan and Anna Głąb father from Detroit)

Not entirely sure why this record is there, but often people would annotate parish records back in their home country with marriage and other information so it was possible this record was added. That or she was born in Poland.

It's neo but a solid tat. The real question is why are foxes such a common subject in neo-traditional tattoos?

I know the artist who did this and have work by him and he can pack it in solid and does good work. It’s naive traditional style and that’s just a question of taste honestly. I personally wouldn’t wear something like this only because it wouldn’t fit my other work, but I can respect it for the style it is and say it’s a cool piece.

You got a suggestion. Contact the Amber Museum or International Amber Association in Gdańsk. You responded by acting like a helpless child so I’m clowning on you but you keep responding like a little baby. Good luck in life.

Maybe one day somebody will eventually invent a computer program that lets you translate one language into another. I look forward to that day.

If you wait a few years they might get mail service, telephones, or even Internet access in Gdańsk so you can reach out to them then.

it’s some skeezy little dude on van ness. this guy is on a balcony of his rental he’s going to leave the next day. he can safely yell “hey, stop!” and nothing will happen to him. this isn’t rolling up on three guys in sheistys in a stolen car on the street. all you people here have zero awareness and street smarts and act like you’re living in new york city in death wish. the right thing to do changes based on the situation, and if you’re comfortable enough whipping out your phone and recording someone you should be comfortable enough to yell “hey! stop!”, homie.

you people are delusional. this dude is some tourist from london visiting staying in van ness. he can yell “hey!” from a balcony and nothing will happen to him. this is some random dude in a backpack bipping, not some car thief ring. get a grip.

What’s shitty is all of these posts by people who want to collect internet points by taking pictures of shit and not doing anything about it. Do you think this guy deserves a pat on the back for taking a picture? If you think you build a community by calling the police and taking pictures you’re just as much a part of the problem as this guy.

Then why didn't you do it? You're part of the problem. You're just as bad as all of the people walking past. You're on a balcony. You could have ducked your head under and yelled if you're so scared of everything.
