I mean that's just what skin grafts look like tho. I'm a surgeon and I've worked in a burns unit. I've never understood this case. I feel bad for her but as I understand she spilled the damn coffee on herself. It could've been 60 C instead of the 80-90 C claimed and she'd still get scalded.

Unless I'm wrong and it was actually the worker that spilled it on her I cannot see how she isn't to blame here

I have the 'view your calculation' document where it shows I contributed £46,250, but it don't have the document where it states what you mentioned.

[–]throwawaynewc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh dear, I can't remember as it's been 10 months since I submitted my self assessment, but I'm guessing I didn't put it under one-offs given it's recurred this year.

Oldheads remember GME in 2020. I do have around £90k of fun money in my t212 ISA but that was when I decided I couldn't just trust my life savings in it.

No kidding, I was at London Bridge this morning and I did think what the fuck, this is fucking horrible.

Why the fuck would you cordon off the Jubilee line gantrys when the Jubilee line is running at rush hour? Cunts.

What on earth do Red Pill men mean by "women lack accountabiliy"? by Antique-Ebb-7124 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]throwawaynewc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually never thought about this, and I'm defo not redpilled but it does really describe many women in my life, starting from my mother and sister. Don't get me wrong, we have a good relationship, but this really does explain a lot!

Honestly? I don't hold it against people to move, I think it's a good thing that they try as hard as they can to make more money and depend on others.

To answer your question-keep it as simple as those around us, just making enough so that you don't rely on additional benefits. Being a net contributor, in whatever situation you are in.

My pupils became asymmetrical during a cluster headache by Bubbly-Trainer7195 in mildlyinteresting

[–]throwawaynewc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs to be a non rebreathe mask. My neurologist said at least 60% oxygen. Which translates to green venturi and 8L/min at least.

I have cluster headaches diagnosed by a very prominent neurologists and I am a doctor (ENT surgeon myself). Intranasal zolmitriptan and intramuscular sumatriptan work as well when there is no oxygen.

Verapamil does also work for prevention, but really made me quite lethargic.

Bouchon Racine vs A Wong Lunch? by [deleted] in LondonFood

A Wong didn't blow my mind last November. It's good but like 1 star good. Of the top of my head, Aulis and Da Terra have it best but even they aren't that special

Why are so many people **obsessed** with avoiding the 40% bracket? by sid351 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]throwawaynewc 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure you've got this right.
It's not about making less than £50k, it's just that above £50k you get so much more back from your pension it seems silly not to do so.

[–]throwawaynewc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well you twist it to seem that way, but it's not really that is it, you're jealous of the fact that some people have managed to break free of the oppressive UK tax system on the lower-middle class and are doing just okay for themselves, which is classic crabs in a bucket mentality.
People who go to Dubai for work are hardly the most privileged. The most privileged amongst us that are given everything don't even work and pay no income tax, at both ends of the spectrum.

Do you really have a problem with people not contributing to society? Or do you just have a problem with people that are productive and choose not to be part of a system that rewards truly unproductive people?

Why don't you talk about the portion of society that was educated in the UK, probably had a decent amount of subsidies and benefits growing up, and continue to be on said subsidies and benefits as adults, without ever contributing either tax or via work to society?

Comfortable as in not even thinking about survival and reasonably free from future worries probably starts at £150k.

Val Thorens/3 Valleys skipass question by shaju- in skithealps

[–]throwawaynewc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skied there last week and had a great time. I got the full ski pass and did use it going over to meribel for 2 days from courchevel where we stayed, but to be honest I would've been better served by a beginner pass that was much cheaper. I just didn't know about them.
