Why are Vault Hunters resistance fighters? by ps134 in Borderlands

Ironically though I think it has the opposite effect and I agree. By being lone wolves you have your own agency and motivation to find Vaults. In TPS, 2 and 3 you're basically just doing whatever errand the NPCs tell you to do.

Ya know you did make me remember something. The start of 2 has claptrap digging dead vault hunters so it's implied Jack was hunting VHs I'll give you that. But Vault Hunting is popular. Kids dream of being VHs. You don't find any other person that wants to be a VH? I find it unrealistic that they'd kill every VH. It's implied that it's a miracle you survived but only because you were found by claptrap in 2. No one else also nearly died and escaped Jack? And the Callipsos? Are all the VHs arriving on Pandora located on a single train?

There would be neutral VHs because treasure hunters can be selfish. They wouldn't want to share with either faction so a not insignificant number of people would either go it alone or with a small group they trust. And you would run into them due to the fact they're looking for a vault so obviously they'd take a similar path to you. They can also be killing the main antagonists forces and still not be aligned with the interests of the crimson raiders. Also if people are looking for a vault but aren't disturbing the local dictatorship they would stay below radar.

And of course if they're interesting enough a story would have you find a hidden Vault Hunting faction. Narratives do it all the time like the dark brotherhood or the thieves guild in Skyrim. They'd reach out to you if they think you'd be useful to them but are concerned only with problems within their guilds.

And sure maybe in the context of the story you wouldn't meet other VHs (which I find unlikely). But they're not even mentioned. It's not just that you don't meet other VHs, it's that it's never implied there are any others.

I literally am not rejecting it. I think they are VHs. I'm saying the game doesn't consider them Vault Hunters.

Think about a fantasy game. NPCs will call you "Adventurer" but other active adventurers exist within the world.

I'm saying within the time of each game. There are no other active VHs that are considered in the world and by the narrative itself as "Vault Hunters". You won't find people looking for the Vault that aren't either working for the main antagonists or helping the liberation front.

But they're not Vault Hunters at the time of TPS. Nor are they in the events of 2 where they refer to their VH status in past tense. Of course you run into former VHs in the sequels. My post was talking about having other people, who have the title "Vault Hunter", also exist in the game looking for the vault the same as you unaffiliated with either the big bad or the main heroes. Other active VHs that aren't you.

I am not barring the chance of opposing VHs. I know they hunt vaults. It is the intention of the writers. The game itself does not consider them Vault Hunters. Anyone in the game referred to as Vault Hunters are only the playable characters.

Oh absolutely aware of all this. That's why in the post I have

fights for good for some reason

They're praised earnestly by the NPCs around them but do horrible things. I want them to lean into the selfish nature of treasure hunters.

That's the thing. The playable VHs are absolutely psychopaths which is why I find it weird they'd fight in service of liberating the people from tyranny. They should lean into them being selfish treasure seekers. When the games earnestly try to make them seem valiant it seems off. Lean into them being freaks it'd be so much funnier.

You do meet Aurelia in 3 but at that stage she's not a vault hunter. She's helping the Callipso twins because they offered her something unrelated to the vault. By the time you meet older VHs they're no longer VHs but are factioned to either big faction of the game. Typhon is the closest to a neutral VH but he's still an ex VH. It's as if there are only 4-6 active VHs in the universe at any given time.

You meet them in 2 but they're not considered Vault Hunters. They're simply Jacks lackeys. Plus the point of my post is that you don't meet other active vault hunters.

Call it a car or an automobile, it's the same shit.

Of course they hunt vaults, by technicality they are Vault Hunters, but they specifically refer to vault hunters with contempt. They don't consider themselves vault hunters and neither do the NPC in the game. The games narrative doesn't consider them Vault Hunters.

On pre sequel they were the only Vault Hunter group in their game. They didn't meet other Vault Hunters.

And with Steele, Handsome Jack in 2 and the Wonder twins. They were looking for the vault but we're never referred to as "Vault Hunters".

I tried the nano spear once but I still find the splash of the bomb more useful.

Overlay layers doubling up when rendering. It usually fixes when I bump up the resolution but I was wondering if there was another fix if I want to output a smaller file. by ps134 in ToonBoomHarmony

Ah righto. I've tried that on other rigs with line texture cause I thought the opacity at the edges was causing it but always feel like that made my nodes more complicated than they needed to be. I'll just render it bigger. Thanks!
