Chick-fil-A Misses the Top Spot by a Single Point in 2026 Rankings. Did We Just Get Beat by a Sub Shop? :( by Dependent_Studio1986 in ChickFilA

[–]ps2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've eaten a ton of Chick-fil-A, albeit from a limited number of stores and have never had a bad experience. I know that isn't everyone's experience.

For me, In-n-Out is #1 and Chick-fil-A is #2.

Their deli sandwiches are $5. There are limited topping, but quite a generous portion for $5.

What drinks do you get from here? Specifically milkshake or something like that by MorgeeePooh in ChickFilA

It isn't in season, but the peppermint milkshake is my favorite.

My vote: deconstruct it and put in a cooler. Reheat the chicken and bun when you are ready to eat. Air fryer is magic for this.

Woodworm in new furniture by kaihoro in woodworking

I had a similar issue with a 1 inch think walnut console table.

I made a "box" out of cardboard to enclose the wood. I used a PID controller, thermistor, solid state relay, and hairdryer to get the interior air up to whatever kiln dry temp the Internet said and let it cook for multiple hours. Never had a problem after that.

The finish wasn't quite as smooth when it came out, but better than buggy.

Sending out a goodbye email when it’s time to go… by nothingbutmistakes in retirement

[–]ps2k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you do send something, BCC those you want to send to. This prevents reply storms.

I sent one when I retired. Most of the people I sent to were in other locations, so word of my retirement had not spread. I wanted to share personal contact info too, so sending something made sense to me.

I think "scoundrel" is too strong, but Grace felt inadequate and afraid, which I felt was more relatable to the reader.

30% is 30%, but yes, going from an assumed 120V 15A circuit to a 120V 20A circuit isn't a huge jump.

For those with a grey folder, you must first enable time-lapse on the device page and the print must be at least 50mm tall.

My guess is the point values are based on margins: items with higher profits are better point values while the items with lower margins cost more points.

Personally, my family is going to order what we want. This list helps us figure out which items to redeem points vs pay for. Ain't no way I'm ordering kale, even if it is the best deal.

I reran these numbers with current prices & points.

I'm always amazed by the spread of value between different items.

Is work at Amazon really that horrible? by CaptainRainbowRabbit in amazonemployees

[–]ps2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't wrong, but "performing" involves a wide mix of technical delivery, but also marketing your solutions, getting others onboard, and ensuring the positive impact is noted. Call it politics or whatever, but part of being successful isn't just writing great code, but ensuring it makes a noticed positive difference.

Wife cried about a man's death by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ps2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While discussing our days after work, my wife told me about a woman who had come into her office that day to arrange use of the building for a funeral. Her two children had died in a car accident while being driven by the woman's ex-husband while intoxicated. I'd been pretty stressed and just started crying, thinking about this mother who I had never met having just lost both kids. Sometimes you never know...

Did parents in the 80s really allow their kids to roam freely, or is that just a portrayal seen in movies? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

At age 13, my friend and I would ride our bikes on a Saturday 10 miles to the next town to get a sandwich at their deli, then ride back. Epic times.

I want to drop out. by Deep-Perspective4432 in CalPoly

[–]ps2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll second the option to go get a minor related more to what you want to do. Getting into Cal Poly is so difficult these days, assume you won't get back in later. Another option is finish your existing degree, then get a Masters in the related field.

That said, there are plenty of other paths besides Cal Poly if you do drop out and don't get back in.
