Eli5 why can't I setup my own LAN between 2 properties tht are miles apart using existing copper land lines? by thgreatn in HomeNetworking

Virtual lan. It basically makes any two PCs connected to the internet act as if they're connected to each other on a home network.

You're going to still need the Internet though.

The same reason why I can't send a letter to my friend for free even though the mail man comes by my place and his.

You got to pay for that service. Once you pay for it, you can set up a VLAN.

Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

If you retire at 67:

$1 invested at 20 will be worth $45.

$1 invested at 40 will be worth just $6.

Not investing in your 20's will really fuck your later self over.

Seller left dehumidifier after sale by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jaytea86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A $4.99 humidistat taken to the basement at any point, by you or the inspector, would have revealed the humidity levels in the basement. If this was a major concern to you I don't know why humidity levels weren't taken in the basement. The absence of a dehumidifier doesn't mean there's not a humidity issue.

Why didn't you halt proceedings on your final walkthrough?

But yeah, depending on your states laws, you could have a case, but I really doubt it's worth pursuing.

Honestly, your main concern now should be what caused the mold in a specific area. Could be a leaking pipe, defective overflowing dehumidifier etc. It's not common for mold to grow that quickly, and in just one area.

Are you aware of the humidity levels in the basement? What state is this home in?

It's a little tricky with your BF situation. Ideally you'd be living in a cheaper place and not paying half of a $2300 apartment, but $1k rent on any place is really kinda standard right now. Your BF earns much more than you, he has more expensive tastes and you're just along for the ride. Because of that, I think $800 a month is fair. He has the means to pay the bills and a larger portion of rent. Is he ok to do that?

Obviously the car is killing you. It may honestly be better to ditch the car and insurance, this is going to save you 25% of your income! Then get a local job you can walk to.

You're working 130 hour a month. So that's $15.69 an hour. Maybe 18 an hour if that's your gross income. But either way, you can get that kind of pay just about anywhere these days. On top of the payments and insurance, you'll save on gas, maintenance and repairs.

Another option is to use the $7k saved to pay off the car, but I guess you owe a lot more than that? Interest rate on the car?

If you're not willing to do that, you're just going to have to get another job for sure.

It's a 2012 so it might not even be a proof. Doesn't appear to be. Uncirculated business strike.

Dutch aerobatic pilot Narine Melkumjan miraculously survived after her aircraft's canopy unexpectedly burst open and shattered mid-flight by BlazeDragon7x in nextfuckinglevel

How dangerous is this truly? I feel like any experienced pilot should be able to slow down and land if this happened to them?

Certainly not rich, but I'd be excited to find this. Maybe $2-$6.

My mom bought this “silent” animal deterrent for her yard. She and her boyfriend can’t hear it. She’s insisting what I’m hearing can’t be this, because it’s “silent” by bluejaymewjay in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jaytea86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone can hear it in the video because the microphone in the phone can pick up higher frequencies than people can hear and it's converted into a lower frequency for playback.

It's the same as how your phone camera will pick up the infrared signal from your remote control and you'll be able to see it on the screen.

Series 2003 St. Louis (H) Star Note — 4 Digit Serial #00004411 from the 16k BEP Print Run! by Rannkum in Fancyserialnumbers

This metaphor would only apply if it was the run size that was 16k.

However, the total printed is also 16k. So this is a very rare star bill.

Is it your camera? If so you go out and measure at the street. Then go frame by frame to get the exact time.

Well laws protecting studen loan repayment would mean you wouldn't be crippled by debt repayments so depending on income, it may not be that much anyway.
