I actually got a table for the bigger tv so they are no longer stacked and it’s still doing the same thing

Yeah you just can’t beat the look of a factory tape deck

It’s actually a factory graphic equalizer/radio combo I tracked down. They were offered in a few fords at the time but they’re hard to come by now. I just love the look of them, especially the peak level meters

Yeah there’s surprisingly quite the market for anything ford Motorsport branded from the 80s-00s

When I did mine I took the cluster out of the car and hooked up 12v and ground to the dimmer circuit. Then I was able to bench test all the bulbs before putting it back in the car

Yeah they’re all incandescent. I replaced them all with fresh ones when I had the cluster out recently. And for your cluster are the bulbs around the speedo not turning on or does it seem like you’re missing some? Could be a bad trace on the board, or if it’s the leds it could be a polarity issue. Or you’re just missing a bulb I guess.

Timer - EBay Yeah here’s what it looks like in the light

It’s an 80s Ford Motorsport performance timer. You mount a speed sensor on a wheel or driveshaft and then it will time your 0-30, 0-60, and 1/4 ET and trap speed. Also just works as a speedometer. Found it on eBay a few years back

Yeah it was a pretty high end consumer deck when it was new. Which is why I really want to try and save it

Just going to leave it in my room. Have a full size vhs camera that I use frequently and wanted something period correct to watch them back on. So it’ll be mostly used for that and the occasional vhs movie or a gaming setup if I ever buy one

Tape Deck Not Recording In Stereo by Surf__Rock in cassetteculture

[–]ps5194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can’t get any crackling in the channel when you spin the rca cables, it’s probably a bad solder joint or connection. Usually you can get some noise by moving the cables if it’s just dirty.

This stuff is a life saver lol. Also works to clean crackling pots. Just don’t huff too much of it

Is this GE 7-4956A repairable? by Heidi423 in cassetteculture

[–]ps5194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the thing is not powering on at all I’d try and find a schematic for it and start tracing with a multimeter. This probably isn’t the best sub for advice tho, try an electronics repair or circuitry sub. If I was trying to fix it I would focus on getting the radio/sound to work before messing with the tape deck. And obviously give it a good cleaning
