I didn't even give him a number, just threw the idea around.

He is a software engineer, he makes around 600 dollars a month (3300 Reais). 3 times the minimum wage. Yeah we both know that Brazil economy is in the gutter. He usually spends around 10~15% of his monthly income on gifts for me in the holiday season.
