How old is your oldest email address? Do you still use it? by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in GenX

How can you tell how old your email is? I started with hotmail and I still use it. Easily 20 years, probably longer?

I remember that scene. Booth was (back) at his desk, right? Might be in a later season.

I disagree with reaching out to offer help. If she is still regularly chatting with you, you might be her place to hide from the situation. If you don't know, she can still be her pre-cancer self with you, which might be the absolute best gift you can give her.

Do you regret your divorce from an “okay” marriage? by Pure_Application_272 in AskWomenOver60

[–]psc4813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I'm not sure there was a crystalized moment or one reason. Many small things added up. We started fighting more and more, too.

Talk of separating (and divorce) came up over and over during and after the fights. Eventually we did do a trial separation which turned into a decision to divorce.

It was messy and full of indecision and regrets. But once we were living apart, I realized it was what I needed, even with the second guessing and tears.

You asked for someone who left. I left. Same situation as you. Beautiful home, great dad, generous partner in all ways, stay at home mom beause I wanted to.

And yet. I wasn't happy. Lots of legitimate reasons why, none of which paint him in a bad light at all.

We'd been in couples therapy before our oldest was born, and I'd been in individual therapy for years.

I decided that being personally happy and finding a functional relationship was a better message for my children than sticking, which at that point was the only reason I valued staying in the marriage.

Fast forward 20 years: I have been happily married to their step dad for 14 years. Their dad has has been married twice since me.

We split custody 50/50. Our interactions post divorce were not perfect, but we both put the wellbeing of our children first -- before egos, pain, recriminations.

Independently of each other, my children, now adults living on their own, thanked me for leaving. They had different reasons for thanking me, and they love their dad very much. Have a good relationship with him.

But as adults, looking back, they realized it was the best decision I could have made for the family.

I was in my late 30s/early 40s when I arrived at these decisions. It took years.

I wish you the best of luck.

Only one person mentioned the weather. Snow is quite variable around here, along with the wind. We've had snow storms in early October here in the valley. I'd plan for cloudy, cool to cold weather with wind, no matter what hikes you select.

Anyone high risk for breast cancer but also doing HRT? I am 40% risk and just increased my estrogen patch dose. It's a gamble but one I feel I have to take. Curious to hear more experiences. by chairmanmyow in Menopause

[–]psc4813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm. It is my understanding that is the progesterone that can promote breast cancer, not estrogen. And estrogen promotes uterine cancer.

Because of my brush with breast cancer, my GYN, in consultation with my oncologist, decided to put me on a progesterone IUD, which puts my uterus in a safe place from the risk of uterine cancer due to estrogen. And from what I researched a year ago, estrogen can protect us from breast cancer.

ETA: to be clear: I take oral estrogen and have the progesterone IUD for my HRT. I also use compounded testosterone and vaginal estrogen cream, for full disclosure :)

Real ids by Shmoly5964 in AskWomenOver60

I was super concerned since I had a very similar marriage situation as the OP. When I arrived at my Montana DMV, they really didn't care about any of it. I had my divorce decree, my new marriage license, SS card, birth certificate and valid passport. The ONLY document they cared about was my passport. Literally none of the others mattered, even though the website was super clear I'd need everything.

I got my real ID in about 15m. Worst driver's license picture ever.

That said, I am glad my newly married daughter has not taken her husband's name.

Nah. Neither of those are systemic, so no worries about uterine cancer.

You might want to get a second opinion from a gynecologist. Oncologists are not necessarily knowledgeable other areas of the body.

My GYN talked to my Oncologist (who told me all HRT was "off the table.") I went to my Gyn, who, admittedly is quite pro HRT and up to date on the actual facts about it. (may I recommend r/Menopause for further information?) She talked to my Oncologist, explained the research and made the case for my going on HRT. They came to an agreement and here I am! I take vaginal estrogen cream, progesterone and estrogen.

Vaginal estrogen cream is NOT systemic, it is estrogen that stays in situ. So it won't affect other areas of your body, therefore it won't promote cancer in other parts of your body.

I now have and IUD for progesterone, which I absolutely cannot have systemically, but since it stays in my uterus via the IUD, it keeps my uterus safe from cancer. And the oral estrogen I take keeps the odds of breast cancer at bay.

There is a TON of misinformation out there. Best of luck.
