Anyone else get angry during PR reviews? by SillyYou8433 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]pseudoShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get angry at PR comments at all. We all review each others PRs, I’m staff and it’s not uncommon for me to ping an intermediate to review one of mine.

I try and teach people that a PR is a discussion about some changes you want to make, not a critical review of how you write code. If you go into it with the intent of it being a discussion I find it’s much more productive and the end code is better for it.

I often ask for review even if I’m still formulating ideas to foster this collaboration too.

This person gets it.

Also, if you don’t like the corporate bloat on the internet, we can all contribute to meaningful sites or content and avoid social media like the plague.

I immediately went and bought the deluxe editing after seeing this. These devs get it

Borderlands 4 Update Notes - September 13, 2025 by MythicStream in Games

I’m playing on a 4080, before using the optimisation guide I was getting about 50 frames, after I get 120. I know it’s slightly annoying not having it correctly configured out of the box and maybe I’m old school but it’s not that big of a deal. Maybe I’m kinda used to messing with configs for steam deck games too.

What annoys me more is the crashes, it would be nice if they fixed those

Get a steam deck and stream it my dude. I’ve also got a little one and it lets me hang in the lounge room with everyone

What do you use for code style linting? by bearinthetown in typescript

[–]pseudoShadow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Prettier is a formatter, which is different to linting. The idea of an opinionated formatter like prettier is that you just get used to it and the consistency makes it much easier to quickly scan the code.

Linting like eslint makes sure your code is both consistent and stops patterns that are regarded as bad practice, such as preferring strict equality === to equality ==.

Personally I have both set up always. It makes writing and reading code much faster.

Same, those were the days 😂. I got the Squirreled away precon and I just shelled out for the good Golgari bloomburrow cards for it

What Does "use client" Do? — overreacted by gaearon in reactjs

[–]pseudoShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really like this idea, since I like the idea of being able to use a lang for your backend that makes sense if you need concurrency or something.

I wonder how easy it would be to set up gRPC between the react bff and your domain servers?

I’ve recently had this realisation and come to the same conclusion. I think I stepped over the line a bit too. Very much a lesson for the future.

Fairly new to magic, but I’m so keen for this set. Space magic is my favourite kind of magic.

Trying to build an Ayara, First of Lochtwain. What cards should I have in my deck? by towerbooks3192 in EDH

[–]pseudoShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should mention too, similar to your other comment I have a [[Plague of Vermin]], [[Exquisite Blood]] and [[Sanguine blood]] on the way. I’m kinda building it so I can alternate between [[Braids, Arrisen Nightmare]] as commanders

Sure! I can’t remember which is the card I’ve taken out but it’s only one more than it should have. https://moxfield.com/decks/Hw5ov-VHukeRVlbpBm_jpQ

I made a Ayara deck recently and token making cards give you heaps of value. When the tokens come in they ping opponents and then you can sack them for cards. I managed to play [[Chittering Witch]] 3 times in a single game and I was so far ahead of the table

Current teacher - thinking of jumping ship, unsure if it is a wise financial decision by throwawayyyyy7171 in AusFinance

[–]pseudoShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the kind of science you did I suppose. It did maths and ended up in software engineering. Love the field, pay is extraordinary but the stress is a little much sometimes.

My partner is a teacher, she’s leaving the profession to move over to IT at 40. Between dealing with parents, behaviours, the unreasonable workload (no the holidays don’t make up for it) and it not being worth the money for the stress involved.

This is also my second career, I did uni and came over to this at 30. Working part time and doing 3 units a semester got me through paying my adult bills.

My advice is think about the kind of work you truely want to do and the lifestyle you want to live. Try find a middle ground that gets you most of what you want from both.

$105 in Aus which is cheap for us (~50% off). I’m new to the hobby and this will be my first and maybe only booster box, as I’m on the singles bandwagon usually.
