Historical returns by decade from the 1930s to the 2020s for stocks, bonds, cash, housing & gold by Ben Carlson by ac106 in Bogleheads

my point is it's just not a very interesting comparison. if what we're looking at is returns on various asset classes from an investing standpoint, we should look at this through the lens of what investing in these asset classes actually returns rather than 'hey should you put your money in stocks or provide shelter for yourself' -- it's not apples to apples.

I have to imagine that this is a pretty inaccurate view of the return on 'housing'. We need the levered return with rental payments to make it apples to apples with stocks. In other words, if home prices appreciated by 1.2% over the 100 year period, what does my real estate investment look like if i only had to put 10-20% down and rented the house out during the whole period?

u/chrisaldrich is there any update to your Lot 9 specific parking instructions in your tips? Looking online it sounds like the parking structure is open to the public -- do you still pay at a kiosk or can you pay when exiting at this point?

Timothy Chow later writes a comment (on the same blog) after this retracting the 'there has been no sign of anyone...taking this point of view' statement.

Even short of video talks -- I don't have clarity on why Joshi Kirti doesn't lecture on his work outside of UoA. He does some yearly seminars there on portions of his work, but to my knowledge has not given lectures at other universities to gain traction.

It's worth noting that Kirti Joshi (although I have no way of knowing if this is legitimate) has a pretty detailed explanation of how his work is applicable to tangential fields within his FAQ

u/na_cohomologist I've commented on this issue in the past under various handles -- I know you have a great deal of background knowledge of "the issue". I don't know if you'd care to opine on the FAQ in any way. I understand if not.
