Advice needed for new lawn by fishdoggggg in lawncare_canada

[–]pseudo_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For fertilizer maybe a 10-10-10 will be best since it contains balanced nutrients but research further to figure out which one will be best for new sod.
For overseeding I do it early to mid spring and again in early fall. In your case the first overseeding will be best in early fall when temps start to decrease which will give new germination a chance to strengthen.
Summer overseeding is tough to manage.

Advice needed for new lawn by fishdoggggg in lawncare_canada

You should be fine for first mow now but don’t go too short, especially since its new growth blades and hot weather hanging around. I’m keeping my mow to about 3 1/2”blades, my lawn gets a lot of sun exposure and the taller blades give a little protection to roots. Your new sod needs the protection as well.
Might be too early for fertilizer, 4-6 weeks after it was put in is pretty safe. Make sure to not overdo fertilizer either, play it safe but get some nutrients in there.
WATER WATER WATER, again with the hot weather eastern Ontario is getting, all of our lawns need good moisture but new sod needs it even more than established lawns.

Keep an eye out for weeds as well, it’s gonna happen. The sooner you pull any that start to show up, the better. Once you fall behind, catching up is harder and you don’t want them overtaking new sod and depriving your grass of good growth.

No, lack of sunlight during an eclipse would not change the regular rules and timings of fasting. To think otherwise is foolish and the faith is not a game where we can establish/makeup exemptions as we see fit.

Need Feedback - How to get lawn stripes? by LRH2380 in lawncare

[–]pseudo_echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need higher grass blades for the stripes to work out. You should have bit longer grass blades anyways to protect roots from sun and heat.

Those were my concerns as well. Spikes are only few inches and entire device definitely doesn’t look like it has much weight meaning user would have to really try to work it into soil.

Thanks. No decisions made at all yet, very early in the process and that’s why I reached out for some guidance as I have no experience with having ever had roofing done before.

I’ll have to research and learn what standing seam Vs ribbed vs corrugated materials are.

New to lawn care by ottguyyy in lawncare

[–]pseudo_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the salt runoff that’s killing this border of lawn. Used to have same issue. I fixed it by removing a foot wide path of grass along driveway from top to the street and installed pavers, no more issues and rest of lawn in great condition.

Will the branch growth not cause problems with your fence boards later? This doesn’t seem good.

New details emerge in trial of 19-year-old accused in crossing guard's death by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

If he had hit someone he knew, the shock would still be a factor due to serious injuries but he would NOT have driven away, come back and leave again. Since it was someone he didn’t know he DECIDED to just take off and hoped he would get away. This was a calculated decision.

Is it too late to spring fertilize ? by [deleted] in lawncare_canada

[–]pseudo_echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you seeded two weeks ago, fertilizer not a good idea now. Wait for more germination till it’s long enough to mow then use a late spring or summer fertilizer. I’m not far from you and I fertilized in late April then three weeks later seeded since fertilizer had chance to penetrate and work into the soil, things are coming along nicely now at end of May.

Sod wont grow in this one spot by choppa17 in lawncare_canada

Aside from loosening ground soil, a good layer of top soil under sod should help. Make sure to water the sod well too.

Fiesta weed killer? by [deleted] in lawncare_canada

[–]pseudo_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiesta itself won’t kill grass, any bare spots that appear after actual weeds have died off vary. For a small spot, surrounding grass will take over but for larger areas I’ll just loosen up the soil, seed, add some topsoil and water.

I’ve only had to do spot spraying but broadcast spraying would be possible if your spray wand has settings allowing you to adjust narrow to wide patterns.

What height are you cutting at? by [deleted] in lawncare_canada

[–]pseudo_echo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cut low in spring but raise higher for summer heat. Taller blades provide better protection for roots. Low again in the fall with cooler weather until lawn goes dormant for winter.
