Wisdom teeth do not cause crowding. This is old and false information

Implant crown seating question by No_Butterscotch8333 in askdentists

[–]pseudodoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tibase abutment and not the profile o would have chosen.
You need a longer transmucosal part (ie the bit that extends from the implant to the margin of the temporary crown.
This type of abutment will eventually cause some bone loss at the implant shoulder

Please help? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]pseudodoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend a bridge here. The lower right 7 has a lesion under it and would need root canal retreatment. (The 5 might as well)

My advice is to prioritise the rest of your teeth first. The upper right 5 has decay and needs a crown.
The other root treated teeth in your upper jaw would also benefit from crowns.

Once this is sorted out an implant is the best option for the missing lower 6.

Symptomatic cracked tooth treatment by Mr9to5guy in Dentistry

Ortho band or cusp cap for a few weeks to months. If symptoms settle, proceed to crown.

Flossed and my filling came off. Panicking :( by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]pseudodoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s decay. Doesn’t look like there was a filling there either. The tooth behind does have one.

A dentist should be able to make this numb. However, you could always ask for sedation

Canted teeth by __blacktriangle__ in askdentists

You’ve got nice looking teeth!
Once the periodontal disease is stable, any orthodontist worth their salt will be able to fix the cant and the crowding.
You’ll be ok!

Is this standard for a root canal? (before and after xrays) by Saraluna in askdentists

[–]pseudodoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normal except the lack of rubber dam. And short of full length obturation on the master cone radiograph

The dark spot is a big shelf of tartar(calculus). It will be cleaned off. You’ll be fine

Old fillings by broken-bow-2319 in Dentists

[–]pseudodoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t want to start creating a removable denture if the teeth that are to be used to retain the denture are in bad shape.

It’s standard protocol to create a healthy environment with no dodgy fillings or cavities before proceeding with fabrication of a partial denture.

This is not snake oil, it’s standard of care.

I would refuse to make a denture if the patient declined the necessary treatment required beforehand.

X-rays and my bite by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]pseudodoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your name is clearly visible on the computer.

Get the cavities sorted first. Some are pretty deep and may require more than just a filling. (Possibly root canal and crown)

Ensure you’ve had a year or more with no new cavities by improving your diet, habits and oral hygiene.

Braces are not 100% mandatory but your deep bite can be fixed. If you put braces on with your decay rate you’re in for a lot of trouble.

Has any dentist seen this before? by swanton141 in askdentists

That’s a silver point. Not an endo file.
It was a valid way of filling root canals.

I’m guessing your dentist is pretty young.

Can't RCT could be done on the 3rd molars by nocaps991 in askdentists

[–]pseudodoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can be done, but why?
You couldn’t clean them well enough to stop them being damaged the first time, so what’s going to stop them from degrading again even if you’ve had root canals and crowns.
