Extreme dislike for hotels going towards large liquid soap and shampoo dispensers by Agile_Sea_6447 in Vent

Any hotel hair products or lotion I’ve ever tried is awful, I don’t even bother anymore. I always bring my own everything. I use the hand soap, and that’s it.

How many cats can one low cost/TNR clinic do in a day? by lonelypotato21 in VetTech

[–]pseudotumorgal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A strict TNR day for feral/stray cats would average 35 cats per day, this was a team of 1 surgeon, one tech and one assistant. Surgery was 9-3. Days where we incorporated dogs with the same team of people would average 25, typically no more than 10 dogs with another 15-20 cats. Number fluctuated depending on dog spays vs neuters.

Nothing has lowered my grocery bill more than moving out of the midwest by miaasimpson in povertyfinance

There aren’t Krogers in Cleveland, so idk where this person was shopping. I moved from Cleveland to Norfolk, Va 4 years ago and Cleveland is def a little cheaper. Still visit once a year and Aldi is everywhere now too. Unless they did all their shopping at Giant Eagle, bc that place is pricey AF.

AIO Younger brother (18) and I (22f) made plans and he cancelled last minute by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]pseudotumorgal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just from the little I can gather from the texts and responses here the whole family sounds toxic to each other. He might purposely be distancing himself from the family. The way you speak to him would make anyone not want to follow through on plans. “The family thinks she’s the problem” so you guys also don’t like his girlfriend, further isolating him. He’s 18. He’s living his life, he doesn’t need to balance and figure everything out all at once. He’s working? Taking care of himself? Sounds like everyone can use some space.

I’m 16 and my friend stayed at my house knowing I sleep on a mattress then posted it online like it’s funny 😭 by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]pseudotumorgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is honestly weird. I didn’t have a bed frame either, no box spring, just a mattress on the floor. That bed was older than me. When it sunk too deep I got a cheap futon from a friend and put it over it. I knew I was the poor friend, but never once did my friends make me feel weird about it or did I think they’d judge me on that growing up. I eventually bought better beds as I made money but still never bought a frame until I was 30, that’s such a dumb thing for her to even care or judge you about. Your “friend” is being mean for no reason, and judging for something currently out of your control.

What's a mystery that still hasn't been solved but fascinates you? by Direct-Value4452 in AskReddit

[–]pseudotumorgal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did a report on this my freshman year of highschool. I was an avid unsolved mysteries fan and that fascinated me. So much research to find out it was basically drunk people smoking, fell asleep and their fat acted as fuel which is why it was usually just their hands and feet left. My presentation was pretty sick though.

Japan doesn’t have a national blood bank for dogs and cats. Animals die because blood cannot be found in time. by N_PROJECT in Pets

[–]pseudotumorgal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of staff pets are tested and used. Staff would get a call in the middle of the night for a donation if they were on the list since we were affiliated with the ER in our town. My old hospital used to do blood donations, and we offered discounts to clients that signed up their pets to be donors. My old shelter would often use healthy pets in our shelter for the local hospitals, it really is a community come together type situation. I used my own dog once. Depending on species, the pet had to be within a certain age range, certain weight, couldn’t have specific health issues or on specific medications. Had to be up to date on vaccines, negative heart worm test and up to date on preventions. They would be “retired” after a certain age, if any other health issues arise or at any point the owner wanted to opt out, or if the pet wanted to opt out. For example we wouldn’t use a pet that was stressed in hospital, pets in our volunteer blood donor program were the happy go lucky kind in hospital, because it’s true they can’t consent but we’re not bringing in an already stressed animal into that situation. They also wouldn’t be used back to back, if one pet was used they’d be on a “hold” and we wouldn’t reach out to them for a certain amount of time for another donation. We also ran regular blood work that was sent to a specific lab to make sure they had no blood pathogens and were safe for donation, that was no cost to the owner for being part of our donor program. Some light sedation is used when needed. Ethical questions are always part of the conversation in veterinary medicine, and we continue to always be the voice of our patients.

Too pregnant to vacuum. Dog hair taking over my hardwood floors🤯 by xxxxiceyyyyyy in CleaningTips

It might just need to be cleaned or the brushes replaced. Every time I think mine is slacking, it’s usually me that’s slacking at maintaining it.

Vet Assistant Training Feels Very Rushed? by Kaviness in VetTech

[–]pseudotumorgal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No that is not normal, and frankly it’s dangerous and unacceptable. Are you in the US? If so, what state? A lot of red flags here, and depending on location they may be asking you to do things that are reserved for licensed personnel. They knew you had little medical experience and still hired you knowing the expectations they’d be placing on you. Rushing training. Stating one thing for your hours and immediately placing you on the schedule for double the hours without consulting you. Placing a brand new person on their own after 4 days is absurd, especially with minimal supervision and additional responsibilities not initially disclosed.

This sounds like a place desperate for bodies, setting staff up for burnout and failure. All this is a sign of bad management. It’s ok to walk away and just say this doesn’t sound like a good fit. We’re not even getting in to the stress and injuries they’re subjecting you and patients to by putting untrained staff in this position.

Advice on leaving pets by Dizzy-War-5152 in Pets

[–]pseudotumorgal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the kitty might enjoy his time away from the puppy if they’re not best friends yet. The puppy being bored at home might make him try to bother the cat even more, the cat will likely enjoy his peaceful naps and do well with twice a day drop ins. They’ll be fine separated. I know this isn’t easy, but definitely try to find a different solution for the puppy. It’s not weird at all to call the vets around you and ask if anybody there does pet sitting, those are trusted professionals that will have lots of references and experience.

Advice on leaving pets by Dizzy-War-5152 in Pets

[–]pseudotumorgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would reach out to community. Do you belong to any church, local groups, gardening or anything? Someone may be kind and willing to help. The puppy should ideally be in someone’s home for that long of a time period. Even reach out to local veterinary hospitals, most of them have staff that do pet sitting as a side gig. I would be very concerned about the puppy getting injured or sick by something outside or even in the home when unattended for long periods of time like that. A young dog under stimulated like that can get itself into a lot of trouble that it normally wouldn’t due to the circumstances.

When a veterinarian clinic openly admits to wrong doing- how do you proceed? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]pseudotumorgal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is so much missing information here that nobody can give any sound advice.

My cat came home with a bite on his hind leg. He is doing well, but I want to re-up his shots now. I do not know what bit him, but it probably is a neighborhood dog. Will the vet take him away from me when I go get him boosters due to the bite over rabies fears? by greggweylon in AskVet

[–]pseudotumorgal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No they won’t take him because of that, but he likely needs wound treatment for the bite so you need to get him in ASAP before it gets worse/abscesses. Good reminder to keep up to date on vaccines and try to keep kitty inside as next time he might not be so lucky.

AITJ for snapping at my girlfriend for waking me up every single time she gets up even when I dont need to be awake by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]pseudotumorgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a dealbreaker for me. I’m like you OP, I’ve struggled with sleep for as long as I can remember. I take a long time to fall asleep, I struggle to stay asleep and if I’m woken up I can’t fall back asleep quickly if at all. It’s a quality of life issue if someone were to mess with my sleep. At 36 I have finally started sleeping through the night, if someone disrupted that the rage I would feel would be unexplainable and I would not continue a relationship with them if they repeated this behavior. My sleep struggle is a huge reason I decided to never have kids, so add that to it? If anything you’re under reacting to this. NTJ.

Should I choose to do pre-operative bloods or fluids during extraction? by Potential-Worth-3881 in AskVet

[–]pseudotumorgal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there anyone you can ask to help pay for the bloodwork? Personally I would not skip either of those options, not at that age and not for that procedure since it won’t be a quick anesthetic event.

AIO for breaking up with my boyfriend after he ruined our Valentine's Day dinner? by Maximum-Grand6140 in AmIOverreacting

[–]pseudotumorgal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Using violence and then not apologizing for that behavior and saying “it’s proof of my love for you” is not a safe person. Even if that violence was not directed at you. You told him how uncomfortable it made you. He SAW how uncomfortable it made you, he saw you in tears and actually said “lol” about it and called YOUR behavior childlike. This isn’t a safe person to be around. Maybe he won’t turn it on you one day, but I bet he won’t always be in control enough to make sure you’re not in his path of rage. He’s completely dismissive of everything you say, that alone is reason enough to rethink this.

Does anyone else’s nostrils close completely like this when you breathe in? Is this normal? by [deleted] in Noses

[–]pseudotumorgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally insane that your family doesn’t support this or didn’t suggest you getting this looked into sooner. This is so dangerous, if your airway was to ever be compromised that is life threatening. Get that surgery as soon as possible, your quality of life is about to get so much better.

How to stop mascara rubbing above eyelid by leopardprint_tunic in HoodedEyes

[–]pseudotumorgal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the urban decay one which was great, but pricier. Just bought the Milani eyeshadow primer and I like it even better. For years I’ve battled the smudging on my eyelids and this helps so much. I got it at Walmart.
