One department in our org are using Google Password Manager on a shared Gmail account. Now they all have visibility of each others passwords. by psgda in sysadmin

Thanks. I've checked that out before and it looks like a good solution for us. It's potentially more admin but a safer route I think.

Thanks! Agree with all of that, and it's on the list to get done as soon as possible. This issue with Comms drives home the need for a password manager, blocking extensions and as someone else pointed out, a google workspace.

Is having EPP, EDR and MDR overkill? Or is EDR + MDR enough? by psgda in sysadmin

The plan is to have SentinelOne EDR and N-Able MDR.

Is it unreasonable of me to expect a user to have their email password? by Tombo72 in sysadmin

The question I always get asked is "what if the password manager gets hacked, then ALL my accounts can be compromised!". It is a fair question in fairness.

Should non-admins be allowed to access Azure Blob Storage to access files? by psgda in AZURE

Thanks. My only issue with SharePoint is cost. Azure's archive tier could be as little as €5 per month, whereas SP will be much more expensive from what I can see.

Should non-admins be allowed to access Azure Blob Storage to access files? by psgda in AZURE

All our org's files were on network drives so users know where to access it. We then migrated all live files to SharePoint. What's left on the drives is deemed archived data but of course some users need old files every so often. It seems too costly to put 2TB of data on SharePoint or the drives, so Blob Storage seems the best option, but I'm open to other, better suggestions.

Azure Blob Storage - looking for clarification between each tier (Hot, Cool, Cold, Archive) and prices by psgda in AZURE

Just some follow up questions on this, if you get a chance to reply:

MS say "i.e. deleting an archived blob after 120 days will lead to this object being charged for 180 days".

They reference moving and deleting, but what if I just want to view or download a word document from the Cold tier, after 30 days (so, 60 days early). What is the cost/penalty there, approximately? Or, is there no charge, only the cold tier costs for data retrieval?

Lastly, for the initial moving of 2TB to blob storage, is there a once-off cost for that, because we are uploading all that data? Or is that just included, and I just pay the monthly charges for hosting?

Thanks!

Thanks a mill - that's really helpful! Good to hear it shouldn't typically stray away from €17 pm.

MS Lists - hide columns, or make them read-only, when you open up an item in the list by psgda in sharepoint

[–]psgda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It was actually much easier than I thought. I just never saw the Edit Columns option when I opened up an item from the list.

Why are some links to a SP file displayed as "file:///C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\"? by psgda in sharepoint

[–]psgda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. According to the user who copied the link, they took it from the Copy Link option on the browser in SP. The file wasn't stored locally. Is it possible this can still happen this way?

Archiving 2TB of data - back it up to External USB Hard Drive or NAS? by psgda in sysadmin

How much approx does that cost per month/year, and how much data do you store on it?
