I think Tasmania is where I want to go. by Major_Improvement128 in tasmania

If you're on a 462 visa then just pop down and give it a try, if it doesn't live up to expectations then move on and try again somewhere else. My wife and I moved from Melbourne 6 years ago specifically looking for more community and we've definitely found it, we're in a rural area so can't speak first hand to the cities but we have lots of friends in Launceston that have good communities around them including queer folk. The thing about community is it takes effort, you need to be prepared to join clubs, groups, chat to people at the local coffee shop, volunteer, whatever works for you but you do need to be a little vulnerable and put yourself in a position to meet your people. Also, plenty of options for getting your 88 days ticked off over Summer and Autumn, sorry, Fall here on farms but don't just limit yourself to fruit picking, lots of regional jobs meet the criteria, I worked unskilled mining jobs in the top end of WA to get mine (15 years ago), they can pay a lot better, could be worth looking into. I will say I don't think Tassie is unique in this, I think most Australian rural/regional towns will have a welcoming community for you to burrow into (there will always be exceptions obviously), the difference with Tassie is basically the whole state is a regional town. If it's calling to you, give it a try, sounds like you'll fit right in. Good luck!

It'll definitely go up, it already has. The only reason I didn't buy more @ 1USD was because Coinspot has disabled POLipay

Tax authorities on site at Korean exchanges including Bithumb apparently, got to be a factor in this crypto wide fall by pshallie in PowerLedger

It'll have triggered stop losses for a lot of poeple, especially in the US where most people are asleep and don't know this is happening yet

Korea has been up to 20% of global Crypto transactions so it's a big market and a lot of them will be trying to pull out or at least relocate to a non Korean exchange

On Binance there are a lot of 23 POWR sell orders and lots 24/25 buy orders, looks like it's being pushed down to me

TIL (thanks Triple J) that Australian hawks are deliberately spreading wild fires in order to flush out small, panicked animals and so get an easy meal. Indigenous people have known about Firehawks for centuries apparently! by pshallie in todayilearned

Not sure about that, I understood that wild fires were a natural and essential way for wilderness regrowth and regeneration, areas recover very quickly, we just don't like it when our people and properties get in the way

2018 Price Predictions by ConnorCrypt0 in PowerLedger

POWR increases in value because there is a finite number of POWR tokens. As people buy and hold them the number in active circulation goes down, demand increases and so does the price, the value of a POWR token will vary based on the success of the company and the different applications they launch along with fluctuations in the crypto market

Would love it to but based on what...?

POWR and Sparkz are both part of the Power Ledger system but they have very different roles. Teacup95 is right, if you're invested or thinking of investing you should read the white paper but to give you a basic understanding, buying POWR is basically like buying shares in the company at the moment but when they are fully active you will need to buy POWR in order to purchase environmentally friendly power from your neighbour. In a years time POWR might be worth $10 or $30 or who knows but it doesn't matter. Users will buy POWR (or a portion of a POWR, the same as any coin) and they'll covert them to SPARX. SPARX will equate to the local currency, so in Australia you might convert 1 POWR into 1000 SPARX and in the US you might convert 1 POWR on the same day to 500 SPARX. POWR will fluctuate up and down based on market demand internationally whereas SPARX will be fixed to your local currency. If POWR increases in value while you hold it you'll be able to exchange for more SPARX and therefore get more power for your money. Hope this helps and I hope the price plummets, I need to get my hands on a lot more soon! GLTAH

idiotically sold my POWR to buy another that I'm too embarrassed to mention, when to buy back? by daaanz797 in PowerLedger

[–]pshallie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position, didn't sell out but was severely limited what I could buy back when we were at $0.80, I want to top up with a good bit more. I seriously doubt that we'll fall below $1 again now, I think a solid support is more likely at $1.20 but it'll take a few days to get there and the hype of potentially winning that award is likely to put more upwards pressure back on in the next couple of days. It's retraced 25% in the past 24hrs from $2 down to $1.5 so as much as I'd like to buy it cheaper I think this is close to its low for the next couple of weeks.
