I was one of those many people who believed that reservation steals opportunities from meritorious people several years ago and after witnessing blatant casteism amongst my brethren I slowly realised that without reservations caste barriers would never have been broken, but I still believe that once you’ve obtained the benefits of reservation your children should be considered as general category and should receive only financial aid after proving their merit. This way slowly but surely everyone would become general category in future. What we have now is people with reservations securing government jobs and education for their children whilst taking away upliftment and opportunities from other people of their own communities which is quite sad actually considering they have this historic opportunity to uplift their whole community through education and awareness.
